I just want to know who the flippin' idiot is that OK'd setting the traffic signals at the corner of Broadway and Main to force people to be confronted with the volunteers on the corners with their buckets out?
Why should I be forced to sit at a light to have strange people staring at me begging for money? Granted, the one in front of the bank was quite attractive, but I have zero time for people that beg for money.
I'm sure I will hear all about how the United Way helps out so many people... but let me tell you that they also blow their wad on people that don't deserve it, abuse the system, and keep coming back for more!
The point is that who ever is in charge of the traffic signals should be whipped repeatedly until bleeding for hindering traffic flow over a non-profit organization.
Only one non-profit organization gets my donations, and it's NOT the United Way

I'm an ENGLISH speaking white GERMAN-AMERICAN, and DAMN PROUD OF IT!
What bothers people more... the fact others disagree w/them, or that the others just might be right after all?
If you're being stupid, acting stupid, or just plain stupid, I will not hesitate to let u know!

You can thank the Chamber of Commerce for what could make someone a small fortune. They hang out on street corners and beg for money. Soon they'll be walking up to your car and washing your windshield for a forced donation.. Some know what I'm talking about.. It's called Panhandling..

Wonder if I set up shop there with a sign up sheet, if people would feel obligated to buy chocolate for my girls' fundraiser...

I think it's awkward to have any group there, regardless of the cause and whether or not I would give to that cause. Unfortunately that has become a favorite spot for fund-raising. If they want to do that, they should have somewhere were interested drivers can pull in, donate, and leave without disrupting the flow of traffic. This includes the firework donations.
I'm not opposed to their fund-raising efforts, but I don't care for their choice of location. Fireworks, United Way, Humane Society, or otherwise. Not that I don't donate to some causes, but even if you want to donate, it can be difficult to do that without stopping in the middle of the road.
