Sooooooo, last weekend coming out of a "drinking" establishment I tripped :nonono: off of this cement lip that is in between the establishment and their parking lot. It was about a 2inch drop, not marked and no way of telling this divet/dropoff/? was there plus the gravel was partially covering this cement (whatever it is).

I fell and broke my nose, my glasses, lost two days of work and the whole shi-bang.

My problem/dilemma is that I keep replaying this out in my head and keep thinking that if I could have gotten hurt this bad someone else could easily get hurt just as bad or worse.

I haven't contacted the establishment as of yet although the waitress was nice enough to throw a bar rag to us to wipe up all the blood after saying"OMG, are you ok?!". so I'm sure she remembers. :drama:

I don't want to threaten to sue this establishment but I would like them to get a sign put up so that this doesn't happen to anyone else and would also like to be reimbursed for new glasses, lost wages, and the hosp. call/xrays/meds.

What would be the best way to go about this without having to contact an attorney, does anyone know?

Since my father fell 6 years ago and suffered a TBI, I know how fast things like a little fall can change a persons life. This establishment has numerous old people who frequent it and I would feel awful if anyone else got hurt that bad just because it is not fixed or doesn't have a sign warning of the drop.

:dunno:

Apparently not even close to drunk enough :eyebrows: I'm still wondering why anyone would :boxing: or any other sport where you damage your noggin on a regular basis. Just the crunching sound is bad enough :baby:

I just don't want anyone else to get hurt.

I'm starting to remember now.  It wasn't the sidewalk.

I fell off the bar stool.

I fell drunk once (or was it more than once), but luckily I landed on my face... and a solidly built coffee table broke my fall.  I tell the girls I got the scar from fighting off a purse snatcher trying to steal from an old lady.  Just kidding, my eye brow nicely covers the scar so I don't have to lie.

You can try calling the bar owner first to see if he'll reimburse you for those charges if you agree to not pursue legal action.  Be prepared for them to tell you they're not responsible for it.  I'm sorry to say, but if it was my bar, I would worry anything I say to you or pay you would be used against me in a later lawsuit.

Sorry for the trouble either way.  Hopefully you have adequate health coverage that will shoulder most of the burden.
