I was shopping today at Walmart. Didn't buy a lot, but spent about $50.00. A middle aged woman was working at the checkout counter.

She rang up my really neat stuff
I wrote out a check and handed it to her
She asked for ID (something they do if you haven't been in there in a while)
My ID is in my checkbook wallet. In my checkbook I had about $300.00 in cash just sitting there between the covers.
I put my hand over the money (mainly so it wouldn't fall out) and laid the checkbook down on the counter so she could see it.
She went to grab for my checkbook instead of looking at it on the counter. She said she needed a closer look.
Ok ... so I grabbed the loose cash and handed her the checkbook for her to examine.
She said, "I wasn't going to steal your money" with a disgusted look on her face!

That thought never crossed my mind ... I just didn't want 20 dollar bills falling all over the floor. Besides that ... why should I even have to explain?! How rude and uncalled for!

Thank you for allowing me to vent ... now back to your regular scheduled program .................................

There isn't anything wrong with Walmart other then it's messy and sometimes dirty. I've worked in similar places in my lifetime and I still did a good job ... would never have said anything like that to a customer!

I like shopping at the discount stores ... better yet, auctions! yippy! However, the last two that I've attended the prices went really high on most everything. What's up with that?!  ???

Well, I guess I would have said to her, "and I am making sure that you don't"
But that is me, I don't care for people like that, I tend to get in their face, so I suppose, {when push comes to shove I will be pushing you down} type scenario.

And no you don't have to explain yourself to her or anybody else, you are your own boss..

As for auctions guess I don't know, the only thing I ever bid on was on Ebay, and won so that was my auction experience, as for the real live thing, never been to one.  Maybe they had a plant in crowd to purposely drive up the bid, illegal as hell, but I have heard of this  before.....

spidey- If you think this Walmart is messy you should try shoping in the Walmarts  along the Texas Mexico border, You would not believe it, looks to Me as if everything that these people look at gets tossed on the floor instead of put back. They must have to employ a dozen people to clean the place up each nite.:p

I was in the local Walmart a couple of years ago and stopped in the sporting goods dept. to buy a scope for my hubby. I didn't actually find one I wanted...but I asked to look at them. The guy looked at me and said he had customers to wait on. I found a customer comment card ....and after a small chat with the gentleman working in that dept, filled it out with his name. About a week later I got a call from the corporate headquarters with an apology and then the next day got an apology from the manager of the Albert Lea store. They both told me that the man in question no longer was working there .

I have experienced the Albert Lea Wal-Mart while living in Austin and now live on the south side of the Twin Cities and have visited the local Wal-Mart which opened two or three months ago. When it opened, the employees were helpful and the store was clean. Now in both of those areas, it looks and has the feel of Albert Lea's store. It must be a prerequisite to get a job there that you HAVE TO BE RUDE and neglect seems to be the top priority. Luckily there is a Target in the town I work in and one is being built near where I live. Plus I would much rather give my money to a Minnesota company that to a company which once pledged to stay in small towns and help them with jobs and low prices, so much for that idea as they have quite a good grip across the Twin Cities. Thumbs down to Wal-Mart.

From what I have heard from people that went to interview for the new Wal-Mart, you have to be on 3rd shift if you want to make anywhere close to $8/hr. They might have created more jobs, but they are low paying jobs that can only seriously compete with the local fast food places. Again AL does not get to advance up the ladder.

I've personally never had a bad experience in a Wal Mart. Whether it's in the cities (when I've lived there and experienced quite a few different suburbanian stores), AL, or out of state (which has been quite a few also). As for jobs... I'd never will  or have never worked at one. I've known a few of my friends that have at the age of (16-18) and they've seemed to like it. When the new Wal Mart openes in AL, you'll all have to let me know your new shopping experience and if it's better or not. :p

I wonder if the new store will have any candidates?
