I am wondering what seems to be the problem down at the courthouse with getting the Freeborn County Board of Commissioners minutes posted from there meeting. I mean give me a break, the last minutes that were posted were for April 4th of 2006. There is No reason to be over a year behind in posting the minutes. Also why do they still have Dave N Mullenbach Listed as a Commissioner? He left the board over 6 months ago.

Here is a link to what I am talking about.

You are using the wrong web site for County Board minutes, try: http://hwy.co.freeborn.mn.us/Commiss....ems.htm
I agree they don't keep their web site up to date at all compared with other web sites.

I approached the county board at the June 5th meeting and requested that they bring the website up to date.  It's rediculous that both Mullenbach and Gabrielsen are both still listed on the web pages.

I was assured the website would be updated by July 1st.

It kind of burned me to see both those names still on the site.  I mean, Shoff was elected in November '06.  It's not like they didn't have time to at least change that.

I will hold my tongue until the first of the month.

*I also requested AGAIN to allocate funds in their budget to get an official videographer and start putting the meetings on the government channel.  Seems like this has been a yearly request that has been shot down every year by a couple of commissioners.  One of which is no longer serving on the board.

Thanks RET for the info
As for getting Shoff's info on there website  I agree with Maddog  this should have been taken care of a long time ago.  If it is not done by July 1 I will be right there at the meeting  asking why it has not been done yet.

One question that needs to be asked is why they are running 2 different sites as the official County web site: http://hwy.co.freeborn.mn.us/
http://www.co.freeborn.mn.us/

The later site is the one that the State site refers you to.

Let me ad lib what was passed on to me today.

"There seems to be not much of a plan in place to address the county's technology and no one person is handling the situation.  There was a meeting last week to address the website and the public should see some major improvements any day.  (At least this is what was passed on to me.)

Our last administrator had no interest in technology in this area, so it was difficult to make any progress.

Both staff and department heads have been the ones working on getting this done it has been a slower than expected with staff trying to get familiar with software, etc."

I believe the person I have been in contact with would like to see a separate IT department within the county with someone in charge of handling GIS, website, on-line subscriptions and payments etc.

So--the person I have been in contact with is doing what they can do.  I believe this person is probably just as disappointed with our county's website as some of us are.

Maybe Madd Max, it's going to be updated soon.

My question is, why haven't they hired someone to work on this?

So, does this mean I will get to meet Madd Max tomorrow?

Maxx, at the board meeting today they said the updated site will be online by July 16th.

CIT has been working with staff to teach them how to maintain the website.

The county has been paying CIT $105/hour to train them.  So far the county has spent $9200.00 with them plus the $1942.50 they paid them today.  There will be at least one additional payment yet.

It was said that no one in the area is capable of giving the services that CIT does.   :dunno:

Stay tuned for the 16th.
