Since Target won't let the Salvation Army have their fund raising kettles on their property, lets all buy elsewhere. It's sad when a business is worried about a Christian organization taking business away from them. What is Christmas without the Salvation Army. I remember when I was a young girl, we would shop in Rochester and there was always a Salvation Army Band playing on the streets near Daytons. The Salvation Army is a worthwhile organization that does a lot of good for many people. So, if they don't want the Salvation Army on their property...they won't have me either.

Target also allegedly once fired a female employee for wearing a necklace that had a cross on it, because it offended a customer, and she refused to tuck it in because other employees had necklaces that they didn't have to tuck in.
This was a few years ago, so I don't remember the EXACT details, but this is pretty much they way it happened.

How truly sad that we must constantly be on guard and bend over to smootch the behinds of the one or two who might be offended. I once thought majority ruled. It has become a state of pure idiocy when the majority must give up the things that mean so much to them in order to keep a few whiners quiet. Applause to the lady for standing her ground. And kudos to mama for reminding us during the season with the busiest shopping day coming up. God i love rebels, not whiners

And here is what rebels can do..... E-mail, write or call your local Target and let them know that you will be boycotting them due to this uncouth stopping of a holiday tradition. Heaven forbid something should happen to them (fire, damaging weather, domestic situation, loss of job etc.etc.) you can bet your life that they would be provided for and assisted by the Salvation Army!!! I say we all pass the word and quickly do one of the above ways of contacting them (Target) and soon. Just SEE what the almighty $$$$ can do or in this case potential loss of it to this corporate monster. We have time to speak volumes people and to make a difference. Boy, am I riding the truth and justice horse or what tonight. Sorry, but assinine decisions really get me going....

Top Ten Reasons Target(Dayton/Hudson) Bans Salvation Army Bell Ringers
10) Bell ringers aren't wearing clothes bought from Target.
9) Bell ringers could get in the way of door in case of fire.
8) Bell ringers bells make that hideous noise.
7) Bell ringers now! What next whistle blowers?
6) Bell ringers take money that could be spent in Target.
5) Bell ringer's kettle is against store policy of no cooking utensils in entrance ( draws homeless people and they don't spend )
4) Bell ringers are dingy
3) Bell ringers could slip and fall, Target could be sued.
2) Bell ringers are in an army (might scare certain shoppers).
1) Bell ringers could pose a threat by hiding weapons of mass destruction in their coats and kettles so Mark Dayton had them removed rather than send Target staff home.

Good luck hurting that company, people spend over $30 billion a year there. Just think how much more they'll make this year when people aren't giving away all that money to a charity before they come in.
Quote | For the first nine months of the year, Target earnings shot up 137 percent to $2.39 billion, or $2.64 per share, up from $1 billion, of $1.11 per share, during the same period last year. Revenue of $31.65 billion was up almost 12 percent from $28.35 billion a year ago.

I sent this letter to target. You send one too!

The Salvation army saved christmas for my family in 1993 I was injured in a work related accident with no workmans comp and a 20,000 doctor bill at thanksgiving and hospitalized till the week before xmas. I will never spend another dollar in your store.

I heard Shopko and Wal-mart aren't going to have bell ringers either. Anyone else hear that? Are you going to boycott them all?
BTW There's are documentary on PBS (ch. 11) 9pm Next Tuesday on "Is Walmart good for America?".

Check your facts, Paul. The Salvation Army brings in a significant portion of its kettle campaign funds at Target stores.
And lower income people tend to give more to charity than do rich people, by the way.
