Contrary to popular belief, the most important day in the life of an American Taxpayer is NOT April 15.  For the average American, it comes this year on April 19--and it's called Tax Freedom Day.  This mythical day is the day that--out of the calendar year, you stop working for the Government, and start keeping your own earnings.  With governments (Federal, State, local, etc.) taking nearly 40% of all earnings by American workers, Tax Freedom Day falls about an equal percentage of days in the year after January 1--or April 19.

The day actually comes a little later in high-tax states like Minnesota--most people calculate it to be right after May 1.  The GOOD NEWS is that with the tax cuts enacted, Tax Freedom Day has actually ROLLED BACK from April 30 in previous years.  For an interesting look at HOW MUCH THE AVERAGE AMERICAN WORKS TO SUPPORT THE GOVERNMENT, CLICK THE LINK:  http://www.taxfoundation.org/taxfreedomday.html

Since TAX FREEDOM DAY now comes LATER than TAX DAY (April 15), perhaps the time has come to CHANGE TAX DAY TO ANOTHER DAY LATER IN THE YEAR, say, oh--ELECTION DAY! :D

Do you suppose it is an ACCIDENT that April 15 falls about as far away from ELECTION DAY AS YOU CAN GET (6 months)? :p

Its pretty sad to know that you work 3-4 hours of an 8 hour shift for the gov, isn't it. The best way to curb his share is 401K and the like.

C'mon...It's only a pizza a month!

Surely you can fast for one day a month to feed the tax man on this one issue. It's not like you have to pay any other taxes or anything. C'mon think about it. 1 pizza a month and your spouse wants you to lose weight anyhow.

It must be hard for you to give up that pizza a month "kid" especially when you get the munchies.

Good One Nwb
Well Kiddy Litter (no offense to cats everywhere), I apparently make more $ than you do cuz it takes more than the cost of a pizza to pay my tax bill. I actually might make more than you do because I quit smoking (cigarettes) and save all that $ I would be spending on taxable drugs. I have gained a little weight since quitting smoking, but my wife says she can't see it, so she's happy all around. :p
