Esse’s wife makes claims of threats

MASON CITY — Eric Esse’s wife told Judge Paul Riffel on Friday that she was confronted last week by six Hispanic men looking for two kilos of methamphetamine and $300,000 in cash.
In an unusual courtroom request, Esse’s attorney Dean Stowers asked Riffel to allow one more witness before sentencing.
Chantelle Laite-Esse, who testified during the two-week murder trial, was allowed to testify under oath.
Laite-Esse said she was confronted while leaving work at the Albert Lea Super Wal-Mart.
“I was jumped in the parking lot,” she said, “while I was going to my car, I was grabbed from behind.”
Laite-Esse said she swung at the men.
“They told me they were looking for two kilos of meth and $300,000,” she said.
When asked if she recognized the men, she said one was Adiel “Marcos” Cervantes, who also testified at the murder trial.
In testimony during the trial, Cervantes said he knew Mammen but denied that he had supplied drugs to Mammen or that the two had a dispute over money.
Laite-Esse also said that two weeks before being approached, a Latin Kings gang sign was spray-painted on the sidewalk in front of her home. Later that day, she said, a Hell’s Angels sign was painted over the Latin Kings sign.
She said she did not believe her husband murdered Timothy Mammen.
“This is not over,” she said of the circumstances surrounding the murder and confrontation. “It’s very real and it’s not going to end.”
Laite-Esse said she reported the incidents to the Albert Lea Police Department.

A Minnesota Man Gets Life In Prison For An Iowa Murder

The family of a North Iowa murder victim gets a chance to speak out about their loss.
Eric Esse of Albert Lea was sentenced Friday morning after being convicted last month of killing Timothy Mammen of Rural Plymouth.
"Eric Esse, each time you hear the slam of a prison cell door, remember your senseless act of murder, and remember the many people you've devastated," said Tim Mammen’s mother Carol, while taking the stand to read her victim impact statement.
Last month a jury found Eric Esse of Albert Lea guilty of shooting, killing, and robbing Tim Mammen last Thanksgiving.
Esse also spoke up during the hearing, and maintained his innocence.
"He was my friend too,” said Esse. “This hardship is going to be hell for them (Mammen’s family), it's hell for my family, and I'm gonna go to prison for something I didn't do. I did not kill Tim Mammen."
But the judge reminded Esse that a jury had already determined that he did kill Tim Mammen.
The judge then handed down a mandatory sentence of life in prison without parole on the murder charge, and an additional 25 years in prison on the robbery charge.
But even though family members say they were glad to get a chance to break their silence and tell their story, the conviction and sentencing is a hollow victory.
"The word "closure" does not apply. Anger subsides but experience tells me there is no closure,” said Mammen. “My heart is filled with happy loving memories of Tim and my family. I have no room for forgiveness for you, Eric."
Mammen added that holidays would not be the same without her son, especially Thanksgiving, which for her family will always be remembered as the day of Tim's murder.
Esse’s attorney says he will be filing an appeal in the case.

Yep...and his wife is now trying to create reasonable doubt by making up stories about getting "jumped".
Notice how she attempts to use this areas prejudice against themselves by stating it was a group of "six mexicans". As if we are supposed to be stupid enough to believe her....the Mexicans must have done it...not her husband... 
That's "white trash" through and through. In realty Esse and his wife don't half half the class of even a homeless immigrant.

nice to see that wal mart is keep the gas prices low. $1.29 at wal mart and a few others. some are 1.38 up to 1.57. make sure to go to the low prices so we can keep them down.
