Liberal, you are definitely on the right track. Do not be deterred by the nay-sayers on this site. A petition is the only way to correct what has happened. Take it directly to the people. Excellent thinking. I do not reside in Albert Lea but feel strongly that economic development does not stop at the borders of Albert Lea. Those folks in Freeborn County were not given the opportunity to have a say in the Port Authority leadership as we did not vote for City Councilors and the County Board was not involved. However, a large portion of economic development entails the County. But I am positive that you will have no problems securing the 1300 signatures needed. To not proceed with this would truly be a mistake.

this is my take on things, people that run albert lea are all a bunch of little fish in a little pond, who think they are big fish in a big pond, and even if the lawsuit doensn't go through at least we have our integretity and don't treat people like doormats and with no respect. there is basically two classes in albert lea the working class and the spending out of there means wannabe rich pricks who run this town.

I made a small chart to layout the structure of the ALEDC. If you look at the chart you an see how deeply seated into power Paul Sparks will be and since they will appoint a majority of the board members for 4 and 6 year terms if Paul stacks the board in his favor he will still have a majority of the board that supports him in three years when his contract is up. That should enable him to easily get another 3 year contract.
