Will the Rich Take Your Food, Housing & Healthcare Next?
They already own your water. What happens when the Rich and their pawns in the GOP go after your food, and housing instead of just your healthcare? Is this the endgame of the neoliberal experiment?

Days After Trump Calls for Social Security Cuts, Congressional Republicans Release Plan to Slash Benefits by $1.5 Trillion

(Washington, DC) — Today, the Republican Study Committee (RSC), which counts nearly 80 percent of House Republicans as members, released its 2025 budget proposal. The following is a statement on the RSC budget from Nancy Altman, President of Social Security Works:

“Last week, Donald Trump told CNBC that ‘there’s a lot you can do’ to cut Social Security. Now, Congressional Republicans are confirming the party’s support for cuts — to the tune of $1.5 trillion. They are also laying out some of those cuts.

This budget would raise the retirement age, in line with prominent Republican influencer Ben Shapiro’s recent comments that ‘retirement itself is a stupid idea.’ It would make annual cost-of-living increases stingier, so that benefits erode over time. It would slash middle class benefits.

Perhaps most insultingly, given the Republicans’ claim to be the party of ‘family values,’ this budget would eliminate Social Security spousal benefits, as well as children’s benefits, for middle class families. That would punish women who take time out of the workforce to care for children and other loved ones. This coming from a party that wants to take away women’s reproductive rights!

The RSC budget would also take away Medicare’s new power to negotiate lower prices on prescription drugs, putting more money into the pockets of the GOP’s Big Pharma donors. And it accelerates the privatization of Medicare, handing it over to private insurance companies who have a long history of ripping off the government and delaying and denying care to those who need it.

In recent days, Trump has tried to walk back his support for Social Security and Medicare cuts. This budget is one of many reasons why no one should believe him.

The Republican Party is the party of cutting Social Security and Medicare, while giving tax handouts to billionaires. The Democratic Party is the party of expanding Social Security and Medicare, paid for by requiring the ultra-wealthy to contribute their fair share. Everyone who cares about the future of these vital earned benefits should vote accordingly in November.”

contribute their fair share

What is the fair share exactly?
I'm not against taxing the 'wealthy' (hard to define that term, and I hate generalities) at higher rate than the working class but we've been hearing this mantra for a couple decades now. Who decides what is 'fair share'?
Personally, I'd love to see a new administrations come in and you say "you know what? we can give billions to other countries, why don't I take 40 people from each side, designate a task force, and we go through line by line and see where our tax dollars are going. I don't think we have a collection problem, by and large, we have a spending issue. Neither side is immune to it either. They both waste money on their own pet projects and anyone who says otherwise is lying to themselves.

After we screw up health care reform, let's take on the initiative of unscrewing the education system (gov't education)

FACT SHEET: The President’s Budget Protects and Strengthens Social Security and Medicare

https://www.whitehouse.gov/omb....edicare

"Extending solvency by asking the highest-income Americans to pay their fair share. Currently, middle-class and lower-income Americans pay Social Security taxes on all of their earnings, but higher-income Americans do not. That’s not fair. The President believes that protecting Social Security should start with asking the highest-income Americans to pay their fair share."

Donald Trump Plans to Starve Social Security

(Washington, DC) — According to new reporting from Reuters, Donald Trump is contemplating slashing Social Security’s dedicated funding, colloquially known as the payroll tax. The following is a statement from Nancy Altman, President of Social Security Works:

“Donald Trump recently received pushback when he said that ‘there is a lot you can do’ to cut Social Security. . So he is dusting off the old Republican playbook and bringing back the strategy known informally as ‘Starve the Beast.’ In this case, Social Security is the beast.

Social Security can only pay benefits if it has sufficient dedicated revenue to pay its costs. That is why it doesn’t contribute even a penny to the deficit. If Trump succeeds in slashing that dedicated revenue so that it is no longer sufficient to fully cover the cost, it will result in an automatic benefit reduction. This would happen without any Republicans having to vote for the cuts, or Trump having to sign them into law.

Although the reporting is that this is simply a recommendation from advisers, don’t be fooled. At the end of his term in office, Trump delayed Social Security’s dedicated revenue paid from workers and their employers. He was quite explicit that, if re-elected, he would convert that delay into a permanent cut.

The choice this election is clear: Trump and the Republicans will cut Social Security and give tax breaks to millionaires and billionaires. The Democrats will expand Social Security, paid for by requiring millionaires and billionaires to pay their fair share.”
