Rush Limbaugh was right on the money when he said on his show today that
Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper was “anything but subtle” when he took a hardline on President Barack Obama’s delay of the $7 billion Keystone XL pipeline that would bring in more than 700,000 barrels of oil per day from Alberta, Canada, to the Texas Gulf coast.

“Reuters is calling his (Harper’s) remarks subtle,” Limbaugh said. “He’s not subtle. He knows the Pipeline will never happen with Obama in office.”

Though it’s bound to send radical environmentalists into another one of their loud tizzies, Harper managed to throw the spotlight on Obama’s job-killing style at the 2011 APEC Summit in Honolulu, Hawaii on Sunday.

The project will now be

See, the thing is, TransCanada itself had a press release back in 2010, stating that the pipeline would create 13,000 jobs.
There have also been analysis by Council On Foreign Relations, and Cornell University Global Labor Institute, that says even the 13,000 wasn't true. From their analysis they said TransCanada was using 1person/1year. So the jobs created figure would be more like 5,000-6,000.
The State Department also analyzed it and came up with the same figure. They released that information in August....that was months before the protests at the White House to stop it.

One side says one thing, the other side says another thing. We gotta try to rely more on common sense a little bit more for some things I think.

Check out the tarsands project, pictures and video of the pollution, remind yourself of all the eco disasters we have already had. Think about what we are doing to people and the planet on a daily basis. It's sick if ya ask me.

As far as job creation goes: we have countless bridges and sewer/water systems badly in need of repair, all over the country, getting people working on those things would be a good start. The downside on that is it would be taxpayers paying for it, but that doesn't negate the fact that some of these things seriously need repair.

I don't know, but fixing infrastructure sounds better than starting wars to supply jobs.

We really do need to start thinking of the future. Things can't keep going the way they are. I doubt anyone has all the answers, but it is something that needs to have more focus on it.

You have to remember that the state dept already did  environmental impact studies which found very limited environmental risk related to this pipeline.  Further, it is a much safer way to transport oil than with large ships...we have seen that with the oil spills in the Gulf!
People claim they want to reduce our dependence on foreign oil yet when given the opportunity they say...oh I guess not.
The primary reason this is on hold is due to radical environmentalists who warned Obama he could lose their political support if it passed!  Thus...it is all political!
The point is that some of you are totally against big business and corporations making money yet at the same time you guys support these big multi-billion dollar organizations that have learned how easy it is to make money telling the people what they want to hear by creating these documentaries that say...see this is what happens!Rosalind, I am sure you are a very nice person..I already know you are very passionate...however,
do some research as to the bogus claims about global warming etc.  It has already been proven Gores documentary was a hoax!  Gore, the biggest proponent of environmental safety (?) is in this for the $$$$$$ !!!
NOT for the good of the environment.  EVERYONE is out to make a buck...some, like Gore, exploit peoples vulnerability, weaknesses, and passions

This is one of those times that using common sense should be take over. Believe "climate change" or not. I don't need ANYONE telling me whether pumping poison into the ground, air and water is a bad thing. I really don't.

How about the oil pipeline leak in Michigan in 2010? Freakin catastrophe. I bet at one time, that pipeline was safe too.

Common sense really does tell us we need to think more of the future. There are alternatives, and we do need to put more work into them.

How long ago did the Exxon Valdez disaster happen? There are still big problems from that. Have you seen how fracking for natural gas is done? Have you seen what is happening to peoples water? Seriously, what the hell are we doing?

I'm a bleeding heart because I care about my children and future generations, and because I have empathy for people being poisoned right now because of our energy and fuel sources? What does that make you then?

The pipeline problem in Michigan was propaganda? The Exxon-Valdeze? Gulf? The way fracking is done? I'll tell you what propaganda is: Clean and safe energy from coal. Clean and safe fuel from natural gas. Clean and safe nuclear power.

Rosalind, your good at looking up info from obscure sites to validate your thinking process...
your good at villanizing every big corp/ business into one big corrupt group...
instead of point out every wrong, how exactly would YOU fix our energy/ oil problem?
