A 4th of July gathering takes a devestating turn Sunday near Albert Lea.
The Freeborn County Sheriff's Department says a 17-year-old and 5-year-old were riding on an ATV when it crashed into a tree, sending both to the hospital.
Authorites say the 17-year-old, who was driving, was airlifted to Rochester and was last listed in critical condition. The 5-year-old was taken by ambulance to the Albert Lea Medical Center with non life-threatening injuries.
The sheriff's department says the two were at a 4th of July gathering when the accident happened on 245th Street, Northeast of Albert Lea.

In todays paper they said it was a 18 y/o man but didnt give many details on it .
