Scary Obituary

In 1887 Alexander Tyler , a Scottish history professor at the University of Edinburgh, had this to say about the fall of the Athenian Republic some 2,000 years prior:
“A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of
government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that
they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the
majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury,
with the result that every democracy will finally collapse over loose fiscal policy, (which is)
always followed by a dictatorship.”
“The average age of the world’s greatest civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about
200 years. During those 200 years, these nations always progressed through the following sequence:
From bondage to spiritual faith;
From spiritual faith to great courage;
From courage to liberty;
From liberty to abundance;
From abundance to complacency;
From complacency to apathy;
From apathy to dependence;
From dependence back into bondage.”

It doesn’t hurt to read this several times. Professor Joseph Olson of Hamline University School of Law in St. Paul , Minnesota, points out some interesting facts concerning the last Presidential election:
Number of States won by: Obama: 19 McCain: 29
Square miles of land won by: Obama: 580,000 McCain: 2,427,000
Population of counties won by: Obama: 127 million McCain: 143 million
Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by: Obama: 13.2 McCain: 2.1
Professor Olson adds: “In aggregate, the map of the territory McCain won was mostly the land owned by the taxpaying citizens of the country.
Obama territory mostly encompassed those citizens living in low income tenements and living off various forms of government welfare…”
Olson believes the United States is now somewhere between the “complacency and apathy” phase of Professor Tyler ‘s definition of democracy, with some forty percent of the nation’s population already having reached the “governmental dependency” phase.
If Congress grants amnesty and citizenship to twenty million illegal’s and they vote – then we can say goodbye to the USA in fewer than five years.
If you are in favor of this, then by all means, ignore this message. If you are not, then pass this along to help everyone realize just how much is at stake, knowing that apathy is the greatest danger to our freedom..
This is truly scary! Of course we are not a democracy, we are a Constitutional Republic .
Someone should point this out to our president. Of course we know he and too many others pay little attention to The Constitution.

I get the basic point of the article. What loses me is how partisan ideology creeps in, suggesting that this is some brand new problem created by they guy in the White House that happens to be from the other party. What folly.
We've had 10 years of tax cuts for the rich. Where are all the jobs? Care to address that?

All they talk about is taxing the rich. Make them pay there fair share!! What about the 53% that doesnt pay any FED TAXES. When are thay going to pay their fair share. I do think thay have beat this horse enough. Every one should pay something to the fed. gov.

I think a 76000 page tax code (only to get bigger with obamataxcare) says enough. It is time for a tax code overhaul!

Speaking of taxes...
My favorite b.s. detected ad by Obumer on Mitt paying taxes is when they say he only paid 14% on 20 million and then suggest that if you're in the middle class you probably pay more in taxes.
The last time I checked, if filing joint, 14% on $20,000,000 is $2,800,000 and 15% on $70,000 is $10,500. Hell, I'll even move up to the next tax bracket for those that still may be considered middle class...25% on $142,700 is $35,675. I'm not even accounting for all the deductions and credits that are available to the middle class. According to my 2nd grade teacher $2,800,000 is greater than $35,675. So no, those in the middle class are not paying more in taxes than Mitt Romney.

It's a percentage, you know 15% is more than 14%. To put it into perspective for you, Romney would pay per year:
$2,800,000 in taxes
$2,800,000 on groceries
$6,600,000 on housing
$2,000,000 on autos
$1,500,000 on utilities
$1,500,000 on insurance
$1,000,000 on child care (one kid)
$1,000,000 for gas
$500,000 on phone/tv service
Just these things leave him with $300,000 left. Still a nice chunk. But, once you figure in that he makes 370 times the average income that would be like $810.00 for the average joe family for any other expenses for the entire year.
Now I know this is not realistic but it puts it into perspective on how the rich do not have the same burden as the average person. I have nothing against the wealthy, good for them. But to have them pay a lower percentage in taxes is hard to swallow.
