Quote | The school board recently voted to increase substitute salaries from $90 to $100 for a full day, and $16.50 an hour for a partial day. Prescott said the last time the pay increased was two to three years ago, and was probably overdue. | ~ Albert Lea Trib
That's not bad pay for a temp part time job ... gee, I wonder what the regular teachers make!

It's peanuts. I don't even get out of bed for under $1000.

Lets do some math. $100 per day / 8 hours per day = $12.50 per hour gross I don't think that is outrageous to pay someone responsible for our children. There are many drawbacks to substituting. You may not know if or where you will be working from day to day. There are no guarantees. You must provide a reasonable wage to make this job worth someones while. But to those of you who think they are way over paid, substitutes are in demand so go ahead and apply!

I didn't say they were "way over paid" ... I said what they make as a temp part time job isn't bad.
