Not necessarily, but one never knows I didn't think I needed to use the sarcasm sign to spell it out.

Commission Friend moved to approve the extension of Paul Sparks’ existing contract for six months and to approve a six month consulting agreement with Paul Sparks to run from July 1, 2007 through December 31, 2007. The resolution was seconded by Commissioner Fjelstad. The vote to approve the resolution was 5 in favor and 0 opposed.
Port Authority minutes June 7,2006. the city manager was present at this meeting but as an ex-offico member she has no voting privliges!
this is getting to be one expensive operation with no appreciable results!

Is this the same Jeff Fjelstad that campaigned on an anti-Sparks platform?

yes, this is the same person. he is no longer on the city council & thus is no longer one of the commisioners as the city council is entitled to two sitting members.

Wow, This just gets more preposterous all the time. What goes thru the minds of these people or do they share the same brain? What the hell were they possibly thinking? What could've possibly been the rationale behind this?
It's still amazes me to see how many of the people we even elect that can't make up their own minds so they just vote as their "bud" does and nap in between. How infuriating, just how much money has that man cost this town in salary and revenue?! Wow!! Just incredible isn't it?

Besides that how much frickin' money does Albert Lea continuously pay for consulting? For cripes sake, google it and save the thousands, it would most likely be better for the community then. It'll probably take Sparks six months to figure out how to tell Repdan just how to run things?!?

June,2007 minutes
RESOLUTION PA-07-18 – APPROVING A CONTRACT WITH DAN DORMAN TO SERVE AS THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR. President Fligge informed the Board that he had met with Attorney John Hareid to develop a contract with Dan Dorman to serve as Executive Director and noted that there were 16 provisions in the 3 year contract (from July 1, 2007 – June 30, 2010). Provisions included a salary of $84,000 per year; a performance evaluation once per year; 40 hours per week; auto allowance; PTO and holiday pay; health insurance benefits; professional development opportunities, etc. President Fligge opened up the contract provisions as stated for discussion. Copies of the contract were distributed to Board members. Discussion followed. Dan Dorman informed the Board that he is selling part of Hanson Tire to Kelven Rehnelt, and also that he has hired someone to replace him at Hanson Tire. Commissioner Field made a motion to extend the offer of an employment agreement to Dan Dorman as authorized in the agreement, and he also authorized the Personnel Committee to offer it even if there are slight modifications. Drastic changes would call for a special meeting. Commissioner Thompson seconded. Discussion followed. One item noted and corrected was that the 20 days of PTO should not include holidays. Holidays would be separate and the same dates as the State ordered closing of businesses. The original motion was withdrawn by Commissioner Field, the original motion second was withdrawn by Commissioner Thompson. Commissioner Field restated motion instructing the Personnel Committee to meet with Dan Dorman, revise the contract by making minor changes which must be acceptable to both parties. The Personnel Committee will bring the revised contract back to the Port Authority Board for review at the July 3rd meeting, with a copy of the contract included in the Board member packets for the July meeting. Commissioner Thompson seconded the restated motion. A call of roll was instituted for the official acceptance. Commissioner Thompson – Yes; Commissioner Kehr – Yes; Commissioner Brooks – Yes; Commissioner Rasmussen – Yes; Commissioner Larson – Yes; Commissioner Field – Yes; and President Fligge – Yes. The motion passed with 7 votes to approve and 0 opposed.

Was this the same Fligge that was allowed to vote and such from Arizona? Is he still there or is he back "on" the job now??
