She was found guilty on all 4 counts and could face 20 years in prison.  In my opinion I don't think she'll prison for one day.  She will get it appealed down to some lessor charge.

i am not so concearned about M.S. as i am about the other low life suits who bilked honest hard working employess out of their 401 k's. they move to flordia where the state laws protect their assests & live the good life while the poor pepole who were caught up in this mess try to sort out their lives! it would seem if the govt. had any heart they would be going after these CEO's & their henchmen with no quater offered or given! there needs to be a definate signal from the govt. that this will not be tolerated in any shape or form. the guilty needs to serve some hard time in the prison system & not in some county club minimum secutity type of facility!! fat chance of any of this happening!  white collar crime needs to be addressed the same as blue collar crime. again fat chance.   big money, expensive attorneys & lots of pressure gets them off!   there is definitly different levels of justice in the good old US of A! in my opion M.S. situation is like throwing a bone to the public. high profile but not to high up on the feeding chain to create a problem for the politicans!

 Scapegoat, I still plan to buy her products and believe that they(her lawyers) will appeal. A juror made a statement today that could be used as inflammatory, and her lawyers will no doubt run with it. Hate to admit it but, late nights when I can't fall asleep, I put the time sleep on and tune in her show and within minutes I am out like a light. Think she has done alot for us hopeful gardeners, decorators, party throwers and the like, but that monotone voice gets to me every time!!!

Isn't it amazing that Rape, Murder, etc gets you 0 - 10 years, but if you mess with money you go to prison for 20?

I think the real crime was the call from the investment advisor. What was Martha suppose to do after she learned of the information? Hold onto her stocks or buy more?

Good point cw, the $ that she saved was a pentence to her. The reason they say that they went after her was that she perjured. Well, isn't that what our former President Bill Clinton did and how many times did we have to watch it on t.v????What a messed up society that we live in. Another example; I turn on the telly and see OJ being interviewed showing his support of Michael Jackson. Our judicial system definately needs an overhaul. Both nationally and locally!!!!

I hadn't thought of that, CWolff.  What is it about this case that makes the media so ferocious?  Other high-profile cases (Simpson, Jackson, Clinton, Hollywood drug users, sports figures--the media gives them a pass--or dreams up (im)plausible excuses.  Is it because Stewart tried to make things better, and came off as too perfect?  Is the media feeding frenzy part of a desire to tear down an icon?

It reminds me of the tale of two young lads, an American and a British Cockney.  They saw a fellow driving by in a big car--the American boy said "Someday, I'll have a car like that!" The Cockney said "I'm going to drag that bloke down to MY level!"  ???

People are just plain sick of the whole lot!!! From Bill Clintons "I didn't inhale and broke no laws of this country" to "oral sex is not sex" to Ken Lay "I had no idea what was going on, ask Jeffrey Shillings"  to Martha Stewarts defenders, "it was only about $50,000 in the first place"  Lying, misrepresentations, rationalizations,  and assorted cover-ups, the American people have had all they are going to take.  The proof is in the recent Disney shake-up with Eisner (almost) out and Mitchell in.  Instead of the stock holders dumping their stock they are holding onto it taking their power back and getting rid of those loathsome individuals at the top.  Watch out world, common sense with some humilitation may be in vogue in the new year.  Let's hope so.
