All I know is 22 years ago, Dr. Burns sat me down and told me that my kids had very bad asthma, and that my three pack a day habit wasn't doing me or the kids any good. I did stop smoking at home after that, and it seemed like the kids did get better. I still managed to get my three a day in until I was told that I had the beginnings of emphysema. I started to quit smoking some time after that. I tried the patch, and a lot of other voodoo remedies said to make it easy to quit smoking. In the end I gave away my last pack and told a few people I was going cold turkey. Don't know why this time was any different than all the others, but thank God, somehow it was.
Even with this history, I don't want what appears to be happening in this county to proceed. I remember how much I enjoyed those things. I started when I was 12 or 13, and I can tell you I loved those things. So with my blessings, "Smoke em if ya got em!"

I see, the Army taught you to smoke eh Geo?
Switzerland's Addiction Research Institute calls tobacco the number one killer addiction, responsible for 71 percent, or 4.9 million of the world's 7 million annual drug-related deaths. About 1.8 million deaths, or 26 percent, were attributed to the use of alcohol, while illicit drugs caused about 223,000, or 3 percent, of all worldwide drug-related deaths.
That's Yer brain on drugs Geo...

Good point farouk. I quit a long time ago, but I don't try to get others to do it. That is their business and that is what a free country should be like. I don't care if people smoke tomato plants as long as they don't cause harm to others by crashing into cars and houses.
