Some of you know this story.  A guy in N. Mankato got mad at the PA & the city & erected a sign on his property in protest.  The council responding by having the chief of police do a background check on Mr. Savick.  When it was found that he had a prior felony, the city made this public in the Mankato Free Press.  When the city was critized for making this man's past public they responded by saying that Mr. Savick 'started it' and he should 'expect' some retaliation.
Anyway, the story is coming to an end but my question is this:  The article says he was told by his lawyer not to comment.  Maybe I am speculating and reading more into this but could it be the city was trying to find a legal means to remove this sign or was pursuing legal action against Mr. Savick?  It seems fishy that the sign is taken down & 'no comment as advised from my lawyers' is the response from a guy who has never been afraid to speak his mind or the truth, now he won't say a word.  Something just doesn't seem right here...

Controversial North Kato sign removed

NORTH MANKATO — A sign that stirred controversy in North Mankato has been taken down.

Last November, Denny Savick and Jenny Padilla erected the 8-foot high, lighted sign in front of their home on Belgrade Avenue to protest actions of the city government. The sign came down a few days ago.

When contacted Wednesday, Savick said his attorney advised him not to comment on the matter.

The sign called for the ouster of the city administrator and some council members. Savick said he erected the sign after being frustrated in trying to get answers to questions about city issues, including recycling practices and the North Mankato Port Authority.

The sign spurred several residents to attend a November council meeting where they criticized council members and the administrator

That guy has a VERY strong case against the city and the city has deep pockets. We can start a criminal background check on people charged with committing crimes or employee's who've signed off...not because he erected a sign.

That guy is in for a big payday if he proceeds correctly.
