This is a debacle just the ACA. It does nothing to address the cost of education, just who pays for it. I personally don't have a problem with some people getting some debt relief, it should be a little more restrictive though. My GF's daughter for instance. She's starting her Jr. year at the College of St. Benedict. She's a stellar student, straight A's throughout high school, basically straight A's thus far in college. She's getting some forgiveness for her debt already. I have zero doubts she'll be able to pay off her debts once she's out of school. She's very budget oriented right now and I am certain that will persist throughout her life. Why she (and others like her) are getting debt forgiveness already is astounding. Granted hers isn't that much as she didn't get a lot of federal aid, she has mostly scholarships but the fact remains, she hasn't even had a chance to pay it off yet. That's ok I tell her, I'll pay it off for you, just delay my retirement a little
-------------- After we screw up health care reform, let's take on the initiative of unscrewing the education system (gov't education) Tacitus: (c. 56 AD-c. 117) "The more corrupt the state, the more it legislates."
The Republicans will fight this tooth and nail....they're calling it unconstitutional, there will be a court battle all the way to the Republican Supreme Court...yeah it doesn't benefit Billionaires and Corporations we can't afford to help the little people...
If I had my way, all education would be free, merit based admission, there are too many poor kids that never get an opportunity because of funding.
This would solve many of our societal problems, if these poor inner city kids knew they had a real chance at success if they studied and achieved...
