looking at the sample ballot. . .

things that stand out to me -

this is really the choices? 2 marijuana parties out of 4 choices lol?

August 9, 2022 Special Election Information

Candidates on August 9 ballot

   Haroun McClellan, Grassroots-Legalize Cannabis Party
Richard B. Reisdorf, Legal Marijuana Now Party

   Brad Finstad, Republican Party
   Jeff Ettinger, Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party

Is that really a real person named "Ole' Savior? sure that isn't a Soviet agent?

Governor & Lt Governor Ole Savior and Julia M Parker DEMOCRATIC-FARMER-LABOR

Matt Birk is the running mate? Didn't know that seems like that would be more talked about . entertainers and politics ick!

Governor & Lt Governor Scott Jensen and Matt Birk REPUBLICAN

So the Hagedorn seat is for keeps in this election?

and the rest are just primaries and we can only vote a straight party ticket?

still don't get the 2 marijuana party thing. . .

Just stick to entertainment nobody wants to hear your politics. . sports should be a unifying distraction of sorts. . . imo

The Nook and Shamrock’s, the St. Paul burger joints with a cult-like following, have changed the name of their Matt Birk Burger after a dustup among customers and an online petition that garnered 176 signatures.

Owner Mike Runyon didn’t say whether Birk’s recent comments regarding abortion factored into the decision. In fact, he didn’t really want to talk about it much at all.

“We always say no politics in bars and restaurants,” Runyon said.

He cited that as the reason for the change — the menu now labels the burger The Double Stack Pepperjack Burger.

“We always do accolades of people who went to Cretin (Derham Hall),” Runyon said. “But once you get into politics, it changes things. Now he’s doing a different thing.”

Birk, who is running for lieutenant governor alongside fellow abortion-rights opponent and gubernatorial candidate Scott Jensen, graduated from Cretin-Derham Hall, a Catholic high school, in 1994. The high school is directly across the street from The Nook.

Comments on the petition, started at Change.org, indicate that signers were upset over Birk’s recent comments about abortion rights at a Right to Life conference in Georgia in late June.

At one point, Birk said: “Rape is obviously a horrible thing. But an abortion is not going to heal the wounds of that, and two wrongs, it’s not going to make it right.”

Personally I don't smoke cigarettes think they stink, marijuana smells worse..makes your house and clothes stink.

Have a neighbor two houses away who smokes both cigarettes and marijuana, nice guy but when the wind is right, well you get the drift. he's got to be mid 50's in age.

But look at all the young people getting arrested getting a criminal record over what marijuana...I think the Prohibition by the Republican Party here in Minnesota is costing us taxpayers more than it's worth and ruining the lives of young people.

It was the Republican Party that brought US prohibition of alcohol another failed policy...

The Republican Party are temperance crusaders interfering in the American Citizens right to choose....

I won't waste a vote on either of the two marijuana candidates if we get rid of the heavy handed Republicans Walz and the Democrats believe in peoples rights..

hah! you just knew it had to be something like that. . .

One of Minnesota’s two cannabis legalization parties plans to police ‘bogus’ candidates in 2022 election

The push comes in response to the 2020 election, when Republican operatives recruited candidates to file for office under the banner of one of the state’s two marijuana parties — moves that likely siphoned votes away from some DFLers.

^^ it doesn't even get to Walz desk idgit... the Republicans control the Minnesota Senate and stop the bill dead every time...

MN House passes legal cannabis bill; no future in Senate

https://www.mprnews.org/story....-senate

Republican Senate Majority Leader Paul Gazelka, of East Gull Lake, repeated Thursday that he is not interested in legalization and it is not going to happen....

Jeremy Miller is the current Republican Senate Majority Leader or should I say temperance crusader...

Both parties are screwing things up between legalizing marijuana and sports betting.
