The case against "alledged" cop killer Brian Fitch should go to the jury on Monday. The prosecution has overwhelming evidance against him including the officers dash cam video, forensic evidence, and details of his jail house plan to eliminate witnesses. Fitch declined an oppertunity to testify on his own behalf, and has been playing manipulative games with the legal system to set up his future appeals.
The thing that bothers me most about this jackass is when he is found guilty(and he probally will), my tax dollars will go to keep this scum alive for the next forty or so years as he does life without parole. That includes room, board, food, medical, and legal expenses during that time! On top of that when he goes to prison he'll be a hero among his peers for being a cop killer! Minnesota and the world in general would be better off if this peice of garbage was taken out on the front lawn of the capital and hung until dead, cremated, and his ashes flushed down a sewer.

I'm against the death penalty regardless of the specifics, and life without parole is actually cheaper than capital punishment. I'm mainly against it because considering the hundreds of people on death row that have been exonerated by DNA evidence in the past decade or so, I don't trust the courts with that sentence, and the appeal process we rely on is usually just a rubber stamp of the what the lower court said.
It's true that some people deserve a harsh sentence, but there's too many botched executions and too many wrongful convictions for us to be sentencing people to death.

I'm also against the death penalty.. The only part I like about it is many will plea out to life without parole to avoid being sentenced to execution after an expensive trial.. Saving taxpayers tons of money..
I also think that being put to sleep like your sick pet dog is too easy.. I think if they faced the electric chair, firing squad or gas chamber it would deter many from committing the crime in the first place or make them plea out to life without parole..
All that have been accused of committing a capital murder should be given the opportunity to plea out to Life Without Parole/Without Having to Admit Responsibility or face execution if they decide to go to trial and lose.. One or the other..
New evidence can get them released..
