I've been told of excessive gas meter readings by Alliant Energy..

Verify your meter reading with your bill..

Also just a word of warning for anyone that has paperless billing and hasn't gotten anything in the mail yet:

Your October bill was split, but I am waiting for the headache and aggravation since there is no evidence whatsoever of the new gas account attached to my home account.  The bill only shows my electric meter.

I was billed over $800 for the last month. Should be around $20. They claimed it was transposing numbers. Sounds like this is a system wide problem.

I was on budget billing, and when they separated the bill, they threw all the past (if  you can call them that, it was actually just Sept and Oct bill) amount under electric, and then claimed that I needed to pay past due or else. I questioned how it is that I made a promise to pay a certain amount, but they wouldn't take it and disperse it as it needed to be, and was then given a speel about how lucky we have been to have it all on one bill (sorry...had it all on one bill in Owatonna, and I know Austin and Roch do that too). I then asked why my past due was all under electric, when there was gas involved with it too, and she had no clue...just that is what they did with it. I can't wait to actually get a different gas company and electric company to be put on a more practical budget...and perhaps someone who can actually read meters.

I once had a thought...then it ran off before I could remember what it was...
