The 18th amendment was legally passed too. That was stupid law, so is the ACA, at least in its current form. While I seldom agree with republicans, I can't fault a politician for actually doing what their constituents wants for a change. Not exactly sure how this will play out for them...
-------------- After we screw up health care reform, let's take on the initiative of unscrewing the education system (gov't education) Tacitus: (c. 56 AD-c. 117) "The more corrupt the state, the more it legislates."
Several calls to the White House got no response from the administration to allow Honor Flight veterans access to the WWII memorial. Several true-blood representatives like Steve King, Michelle Bachman and Steven Palazzo, all republicans were on hand to assist the veterans, mostly octarians, commit an act of civil disobedience against the Park Service by tearing down the barricades intentionally put up by Bambino's Department of Interior to keep them out.
You can tell the disdain even from the article in Stars and Stripes on the treatment of the vets.
Wait, wait, wait... So the whiny Republicans force the government shutdown because of a law that was LEGALLY passed 3 years ago and upheld by the supreme court as constitutional, and then pretend they are the saviors for these veterans?!? I wouldn't be surprised to find out that Bachman lifted a few of the geezer's wallets while she was at it!
Republicans said defund Obamacare or we'll shutdown the government.. Well Obamacare didn't get defunded and Republicans shutdown the government, including the WWII Memorial..
Arizona Republican Senator Jeff Flake said, Republicans have found the one gambit less popular than Obamacare.
WWII Veterans don't need Obamacare, they have Medicare and Social Security..
So the gov. Shuts down the WW2 memorial. Vets, some in wheelchairs, ignore the barriers and go in to see their memorial. Pres.POS sends more security to secure an open memorial.
900K workers in our gov. Are considered non-essential. Those workers must feel real special
And if this shutdown hurts our economy ( our economy is pretty crappy as it is) why is our gov. So big that without a large part of it we suffer? Gov. Needs to be trimmed back, many of it's facets need to be privatized. The USPS comes to mind, I mail 2or3 letters a year. The bulk of what I pull out of my mailbox in 3rd class junk mail.
^My God you're a tool, was your mom scared by a parrot? Have you gone through all your life a mindless moron? I heard all this yesterday on MSNBC then CBS when I got home from work. Think for yourself
"If you could help one child with cancer why wouldn't you do it?"
The 'rats are creating as much drama or more than the guys on the white hats. The administration is intent on creating as much sensationalism as possible. Most of America is outside of D.C., therefore this shutdown doesn't affect most very quickly. That's why the 'Don Bambino is ramping up the absurdities on shutdowns like spending additional monies to barricade an open air park, shutting down government websites, shutting down museums whose admissions cover operating costs. Closing down Lady Liberty which MAKES money for the government. Deliberately forcing private businesses to shutter because they are operated under authority or contract with the federal government. There are profitable private enterprises which pay fees and taxes to fish the federal waters and require no actual services or support from the Park Service shut down instead of generating income.
If the republicans were doing this, the president would be acused of crimes against the American people.
