If you're interested in what the mayoral candidates have to say they will present their speech at 5:30pm in the council chambers at city hall. The council chamber is across the hallway from the library.
They will also be answering questions at the Civic Theater on Broadway starting at 7:30pm tonight

Quote | "It is totally wrong, totally wrong," said Jeff Fjelstad, 4th Ward council member. "If this was an election, an election year, and these were people vying and campaigning for a council seat, then yes, but this is a council appointment. This is an appointment by the council and that is the way it should be kept. (The candidates) are trying to help us out of a sticky situation. I don't think this is a correct procedure at all." |

Liberal, for those of us who live in Freeborn County, but not A.L., di you go to the meeting? What were your thoughts.? A lot of us respect your feelings. Give us a clue on who you think shouuld be the new mayor if you will. The news is not going to cut it. And don't tell me Overgaard.

On the radio Overgaard sounds like Bok. Could make for some funny council meetings.

I just got home and I think they're all good candidates and really don't have any preference. I'll burn a DVD of the meeting tonight and drive it over to Austin in the morning when I get some free time and see if I can't get them to play it for the weekend so people can make their own decision on who the best candidate would be.

Why do you have to go to Austin? I thought you and Geo were running it from GEO's place.

Could you please repeat the schedule which the city council and county board meetings are to be played?
Also, if you have an idea when they will play the mayoral forum, please post that.
Does Charter play a schedule at any point? I have lost track as to when these run. Thanks.
Also, I checked Albertlea.tv and see that hasn't been updated since February. Perhaps that was impractical? Wouldn't be surprised, but thanks Liberal & Geo for giving it a try. And for continuing to tape the meetings until government catches up with its citizens.

I'm not sure what has been going on lately I give them the DVD and I put the time and date to play it on the DVD with a sharpie but at least the last two meetings haven't made it on the air. I only found out about it when someone called me last week and told me the May 11th meeting has been playing forever. The county meetings haven't been on since they moved to the new meeting room. The sound system is so bad over there that the last 3 meetings have been inaudible no matter what I've tried, but they finally got the jury box wired for sound, so the next meeting for the county will be televised again.
I'm not sure when we'll get the equipment at Geo's, we are supposed to get used equipment whenever they can find it, unless we want to pay them $10K like the city is. And even though the city is a paying customer they're still waiting on the equipment that they bought. I know they had planned to be broadcasting live by now but apparently there is a hold up on that too.
I'll drive over there in the morning and make sure the mayoral forum and pre-agenda gets on the TV this weekend. As far as a schedule I don't know what it will be now that the city will be broadcasting live on channel 16 and also replaying old meetings. Once the city starts recording their own meetings I think I'll start recording school board meetings for PATV.
