Do you conservatives feel sort of confused celebrating a poor unwed homeless woman with no visible signs of support having a baby with an absentee father? Not to mention that baby grew up to be a bit of a drifter that fell in with some shady characters and was eventually executed for being a criminal.
What would Christian conservatives think of that situation today?

Mary and Joseph were married, they were not homeless, they were traveling for the census, Joseph had a job as a carpenter, using this trade to support his family. He died on the job falling off a derrick. He was far from absent, he had a great influence on Jesus growing up.
Good grief! It probably the most referenced event in human history! I guess it's just easier to make stuff up to incite a reaction.
A drifter? I suppose being the son of God and a savior would require some travel.
Shady characters? Sure, they need saving more than anyone I suppose.
