Everything seems to start normal with powering up and the light for the hard drive, but screen stays black.  Had the video card replaced a year or two ago, and in the past it does this if it's stuck in some type of sleep or energy saving mode.  It's on a Toshiba A305-S6898 Harman/Kardon.  Running Vista for an OS

Was wondering if anyone had any tips of how to get it going if it's something simple like a sleep/energy saving mode?

Thanks!

I had this happen a ton on some Thinkpads I used in the past.
If you connect to a monitor or projector does the display work?

Thanks, that did it!   :D   I found the port for a different monitor, hooked it up and the other monitor started showing the Toshiba opening for a couple minutes, but then the Laptop monitor turned on again.

Must've been some weird sleep thing again.  Thanks again, G.I.L.!

It is possible you hit the function key and F5 accidently.

Someone else I talked to mentioned that, I don't think those keys would've been hit, even by accident.

I just backed up my hard drive and documents, but I might just buy a new one soon and if it happens again I'll find an external to hook it up to.
