His Popeiness says that we should expect consequences for deriding other religions(mulims) So is this the path we're on? To lay down and take it? Even worse, to be murdered because we're Christians or non believers?

Freedom of speech allows people to be as intolerant as they wish.  But this isn't about freedom, they're making Islamaphobes out to be heros and at the same time they'll put you in jail for being anti-Semitic.

You just described why our founding fathers created something unknown to the world, Freedom of Religion.. They knew that religion resulted in tribal warfare which resulted in perpetual pain and poverty.

The richest countries were those that were more tolerant.. The poorest countries were those that had radical right-wing religious and/or authoritarian ideology's..

Our success was created by a few educated men that said a country with the freedom to basic human rights will prosper..

They were right..

I was talking wealth in the mid 1700's when we became independent from British rule..

Today the top richest Muslim countries are the most tolerant because they know their gas and petroleum won't last forever.. Qatar is a modern country with 5 star hotels that have bars with entertainment and they welcome people from anywhere in the world..

We are slowly falling behind some middle eastern countries because of our lack of investment in infrastructure and radical right-wing leadership..

^^^Leave it to CC to cut through the crap and state the obvious.

Yes, the rich countries that stone homosexuals, have to have 2 or 4 eye witnesses to convict or rape, absolutely treat women as second class citizens.
Real forward thinking, progressive countries. :sarcasm:

Its amazing how many countries that have followed in the footsteps of the United States over the past 250 years.. Britain once oppressed Americans under a monarchy, a King and a Queen with total rule over millions of people around the world.. Now they have a democratic society that came about because of the work done by our founding fathers and Americans that supported them.. The most powerful countries in the world exist because of the influence of the United States of America.. No other country in the world is even close to having the power that the United States has worldwide.. I do know that if the two radicals posting above get their way, we will lose our role as the leader of the World..

Leader of the world:

US involvement in El Salvador. Supporting (and covering up) the slaughter of citizens by the government.

Guatemala: Estimated 200,000 dead:

Christian Tomuschat, the German jurist who headed the panel, said, ''The United States Government, through its constituent structures, including the Central Intelligence Agency, lent direct and indirect support to illegal state operations.''

That support helped Guatemalan military and paramilitary units engage in kidnapping, torture and executions, a staff member of the commission said. The aide, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said the panel also found evidence that the United States had knowledge of genocide and still supported the Guatemalan military.

...

Mr. Tomuschat said the investigation also found that until the mid-1980's, American companies and Government officials ''exercised pressure to maintain the country's archaic and unjust socio-economic structure,'' and that the C.I.A. supported illegal counterinsurgency operations.

Afghanistan:

US provoked the Soviets into invading Afghanistan, also lied about Russian/Georgian conflict:

http://www.thenation.com/article/cold-war-hawks-nesting-obama#

US supplied jihadist text books to Afghan children:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs...the-u-s    Yeah, it's a blog. It's written by a Washington Post writer who is also a former senior editor for Time.

Our ally Saudi Arabia financed and supported jihadist schools for children in Afghanistan and other countries:

Our ally Saudi Arabia beheadings and floggings:

There are plenty more countries we have "led". I'll post more later.
