Hello, can anyone tell me when the building on the SW corner of Newton and Main was torn down?  In the 60s and 70s it was May Engineering, in the 80s and 90s Pour Boys and lastly it was On The Avenue.

Assuming you mean the north east corner where American Bank is now, not where Wells Fargo / Norwest is at.

Pour Boys was where American / Americana was built at.  They purchased the property in 1996, though I believe it was empty for some time before that and possibly torn down before that point as well.  The owner was listed as Peoples Savings and Loan, but that covered all of the properties to the south of the original bank building on the corner of Newton and William.

Yes, (Merle) May Engineering did indeed become the more upscale side of Pour Boys, ca. 1987.

I can remember when Pour Boys was THE place to be.  Especially on Fridays for happy hour.  Buck and Bob really had a happening place.  Most nights during happy hour you could drink a tap while waiting for your next one to be poured.  It was wall to wall.

Ya, and before it was Pour Boys it was Pete Boys.  It was quite the bar even though it didn't have the added space in the May Electric Bldg.  If you asked me, it lost it's appeal when it got so big.
