Remember when Belden was at the helm of the Tribune, and sometimes had the sock puppet Albert L. Tribune write his column for him?
It seems that idea has been recycled in the form of an advice column penned by the admittedly fictitious Leah Albert.

I think it's sort of sad that these people have no friends or family to ask advice from so they turn to an anonymous writer at the local paper.

I only read half the question and thought it was obviously bogus. Who seriously doesn't know someone to ask a question like that, and why would anyone think that the Tribune was the place to get advice on something like that.
I think it was either fake or a letter from the loneliest person in Southern Minnesota.

It's also rather arrogant on the Tribune's part to presume they can dispense advice. On that note, I wonder what kind of response they'd give a writer who claimed he didn't trust our local government, but didn't want to be negative and keep businesses from locating here. Assuming they'd even print it, it might be amusing—or sickening—to read their response.
It would be best if they didn't realize they were being had. Of course, since they do read this forum, they might withhold some of the more questionable letters. They probably don't have the same policy about printing every one of those (as they claim to do with letters to the editor).

They should try something like a technology advice column along with their other advice column but they should get real people with knowledge in the field to answer the questions.
Knowing the area they'd probably just get a bunch of snail mail asking how to make their VCR stop flashing 12:00.
