Why did you wait for four groups of two to be seated before finally saying something?

I retired from the Navy in 85 and have only gone to one of these free meals and that was at the Steak House that used to be on E Main. I worked the entire evening helping, I guess it is just me but I don't feel right expecting or receiving recognition or a free meal for serving my Country. To each their own.

I will come to a time in my backwards trip when November eleventh, accidentally my birthday, was a sacred day called Armistice Day. When I was a boy, all the people of all the nations which had fought in the First World War were silent during the eleventh minute of the eleventh hour of Armistice Day, which was the eleventh day of the eleventh month.
It was during that minute in nineteen hundred and eighteen, that millions upon millions of human beings stopped butchering one another. I have talked to old men who were on battlefields during that minute. They have told me in one way or another that the sudden silence was the voice of God. So we still have among us some men who can remember when God spoke clearly to mankind.
Armistice Day has become Veterans’ Day. Armistice Day was sacred. Veterans’ day is not.
So I will throw Veterans’ Day over my shoulder. Armistice Day I will keep. I don’t want to throw away any sacred things.
What else is sacred? Oh, Romeo and Juliet, for instance.
And all music is.

The way I figure it, I had enough free meals while I actually was in the military, since I wasn't an officer. I don't need any more free meals, as a result.
Some people, on the other hand, will push past old people with walkers and mothers with babies alike, just to get at something that's free.
To each his own, I guess...

I think it's great that the restaurants do that, but I'd rather pay for my meal than sit in a line waiting to eat. I got enough of that in the Army.
Sitting in the line out in the field in the winter was the worst, you'd have a 20-30 minute wait for food that was soggy from the steam they used to keep it warm.
