June 27-28, 2008 www.hambonebluesjam.com
GREAT NEWS! The "Hambone" has been experiencing what you may call "growing pains" for a couple of years. In order to accommodate an increasing number of requests from attendees, and our desire to offer a constantly improving festival experience, we have decided to re-locate the event. We will be offering a very similar "Hambone" experience nearby at the Holiday Park Golf Course, which is located approximately half way between Albert Lea and Austin, MN, just off I-90 on HWY 46.(approx. 6 miles East of I-35.)
We will open this year's festival on Friday evening at 5 pm with live music performances until 12:30 am. Saturday will continue as we have for the past 6 years, with music starting at Noon, and continuing until 12:30 am. We will feature a mix of musical styles on Friday, including classic rock, funk, soul, R&B, and reggae. Saturday will remain with various style of blues/roots music as the focal point.
Holiday Park Golf Course is offering on-site "primitive" weekend camping (porta-potties/hand washing station) and parking for this event. Camping - $15/day or $30/weekend, and $3 for Parking. There is a KOA campground with full hook-ups and swimming pool adjacent to the festival grounds. As well, accommodations are being made with the Countryside Inn on the west side of Austin, which will include a shuttle service to and from the festival.
This site will now enable us to offer expanded opportunities for vendors, craftspeople, and sponsors. If you have an immediate request or inquiry, you may send an email to the Hambone board of directors at askme@hambonebluesjam.com, and your inquiry will be answered as quickly as possible. We apologize for any inconvenience that may occur for the loyal Austin supporters of the Hambone, and we sincerely hope they will take the opportunity to enjoy this new experience. Hope to see you at the 7th ANNUAL HAMBONE!
This festival is staged entirely by volunteers committed to keeping the festival low cost and accessible to all. The Hambone is a non-profit organization. Funds from sponsors, corporations, businesses, merchandise sales, and individual admissions at the gate are used exclusively to support performers and production costs, as well as contributing to funds for local area public school music programs.

It will be great to see Albert Lea people at this venue. Do not miss this event! Friday is an open genre of music with a great Reggae Band from Chicago called Gizzae headlining, Saturday brings a full day and evening of great Blues music ending with Ronnie Baker Brooks! Very often I hear people say "I don't like Blues music", then they come to the Hambone and say "I LOVE Blues music!" Blues takes on many forms, from Honeyboy Edwards to ZZ Top. C'mon out and enjoy a weekend of awesome music. There are tents for shade, food and drink vendors, camping, miniature golf and much much more!

The fact that it won't be on Torge's blacktop of death is a huge plus. $15 a ticket for two days is a steal. It was over $100 for Harmony Park last weekend. There will probably be less people running around naked on LSD also.

They expect 3000 - 4000 people at this years Hambone.
The Lurker, I agree. The black top is horrible. Lets see... do I want to sit on black top as hot as the surface of the sun or luscious green grass... hmmm.

Do you know what food vendors will be there this year? That's always a big deal for me. Part of the total experience.

Pixel, you've probably surveyed the area out there. Would you recommend people taking the shuttle or will there be ample parking?
