What’s up with the Shell Rock river watershed district website? I was looking at it today; they have a story listed about the walleye fishing in Albert Lea Lake but have the fishing season’s dates on it for 2006 season.
Then I looked at the annual report and it’s the 2005 report. Know wonder the public doesn't trust this board.  Watershed board you have failed to give the citizen up to date information on what you are doing and what is planed for the future.
Why do you still have the info on why we should vote for the 1/2 cent tax increase?   :frusty:
What I want to see is project that are being worked on and  projects that are done.  Like when will you replace the dam on Albert Lea Lake? Show us some steps that the board has taken lately to clean up our lakes and streams inside the watershed. (Like filter strips along drainage ditches as one example)  Show us your plans for the near future. Maybe it is time I start going to these watershed meetings I am thinking that it is time for new blood to be put on the board, new people with fresh ideas and a vision of clean water in our near future.

MM, maybe they're too busy counting the money that's rolling in.  Time to hire another full-timer to keep track of the website.

As a county government entity it is business as usual.

Maybe it is time for new board members that will get projects up and running. I't time for Mr Miller to step aside and let some young blood  take over.

Harley Miller will not be in for another term.

The county board elected new watershed board members this morning.  Alan Bakken was reelected for another term.  Two new members were also elected.  Just can't remember the names right now.

Please tweak that memory, son, I want to know who was "selected" to the board.  Thank you very much.

Harley Miller, often thought of as an integral part of the watershed district, spoke to the board of commissioners saying he wanted a final third term, but in the end he wasn’t chosen to fill one of the three spots available. Incumbents Brett Richards and current chairman Al Bakken were reappointed, and longtime watershed volunteer Bruce Haugsdal was elected to his first term on the board of directors.  Miller to leave watershed board

Here are a few questions: of the $343,175 spent by the watershed board in 2006 why was only $48,156 of it spent on projects that clean the water?  Why was $72,167   spent on Professional Services in 2006 but only 36,790 in 2005? Why was $181,852 spent on personal in 2006 but only$114,468 spent in 2005? (Heck of a raise) Lastly All we ever hear is that they are going to replace the Dam in Albert Lea lake Well I been hearing that for a long time. So when are they going to do it?  What is the cost of replacing the Dam on Albert Lea Lake??? It is time to STOP spend money on the perks of the board and Start Spending money on CLEAN WATER. :taz:

MM, I think I have some info on file at home on the dam.  I'll have to remember to go through my watershed board files.

You can get the information from them if you email the request.
