Goldman Sachs CEO Lloyd Blankfein came to Capitol Hill this week to call for cuts in Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid.
As Congress and the White House are negotiating a year-end deficit deal, Blankfein sought to “lower people’s expectations” about their retirement and health care.
He spoke with all the sympathy for someone struggling to get by on $14,000-a-year retirement that you’d expect from a Wall Street banker paid $16 million last year.

“Think about the arrogance of these guys on Wall Street who were bailed out by the middle class of this country when their greed and recklessness nearly destroyed the financial system and now they come to Capitol Hill to lecture Congress and the American people about the need to cut programs for working families!
Repulitards :finger:

Well, he must be worth that much retirement. After all, he did screw over the whole middle class without going to prison...that's talent! :sarcasm:

Screw people that worked all their lives, if you have the power to do so. Dog-eat-doggy style. It's the frakkin' American way. :sarcasm:

We need to go back to the days of Clinton, his tax rates. Wait a minute, won't that happen if the Bush tax cuts are allowed to expire? Won't that make things better? I think we need a group hug on this. I feel all warm and fuzzy.

The rich have been rewriting the rules throughout the course of my life. It's an unsustainable fiscal model.

Meanwhile, idealogues who think that they have a shot at becoming rich merely on the notion of their own work ethic continue to bray about how trickle-down economic policy will benefit all classes.

It doesn't take a Rhodes scholar to point out that some of the most ambitious achievements and investments in the name of public good happened at a time when the top tax rates were around 90%, but these braying jackasses will hear none of it.

So you're ignoring my observation on the Clinton tax rates? The nineties where we had wonderful growth, let's let the Bush rates expire. C'mon, everybody pay some more taxes.

You need to get clear of the notion that this is the cause of the budget deficit. It isn't. Runaway military spending is.
