The Albert Lea Tribune reported that a young kid (14 or 15) shot an albino squirell on September 23rd. A lot of residents in the Sunset Street and Cedar Avenue area fed and watched a set of twin albino squirells that were born this past spring. However, now there seems to be only one running around the neighborhood.
Is it just a coincidence or did the kid kill our cool little friend?
Any comments from the readers?

See nothing wrong with it.
Albino animals are a genetic defect and it should be encouraged that these animals be culled.
Albino animals do make nice trophies.

the trophy thing rears its ugly head!  imho the beauty of a living, breathing animal is a wondrous thing! i have shot squirrels but i have consumed what i have shot. just for the record thou my wife did not enjoy cooking them!  when i was a lot younger i would go out & shoot what ever but one time i killed a small bird & as i picked it up it finally dawned on myself what a shamefully thing that i had committed. it was quite awhile before i picked up a rifle again. i had made a vow not to kill any thing that i would not consume! the argument can be made that if you were born an albino that perhaps you should also be culled. (trophy) just saying!

I really do not see an issue with trophy hunting, one pays for a license to hunt, there is a daily bag limit. If there was a shortage of tree rats squirrels they wouldn't be allowed to be killed.
I cannot comment on your guilt or feelings of shame, since that was your cross to bare.
The difference between a human albino and an animal albino is that a human has a better advantage of defense and a serious lack of a predator. An albino animal is at a severe disadvantage and is basically running around with a bulls-eye on its back due to its lack of natural camouflage. And if I recall correctly, albino animals also have other health issues and a shorter life span than those of its same species.

here here. that wouldnt be a trophy on my wall. Stupid kid, and stupider than that is the attention thats derived from it. kinda like beating a dead dog.  aka horse

Oh no... thats right, my license,... my license makes it ok... Please respect another persons point of view. Some of us dont agree with your simple way of looking at hunting.

Well slick, my teeth are straight and white and get a good cleaning every 6 months, and I haven't even had a cavity in years now. My eye sight isn't as good as it use to be, but that is due to age, and they are definitely not crossed.
I respect the OP opinion, he/she asked for other opinions, I have friends that think trophy hunting is wrong, but the taking of albino animals for food is ok, I have friends that think it is wrong to kill an albino animal, and I have friends who think like I do.
Seems to me, it is you that is having a problem with my opinion as it does not mesh well with your beliefs otherwise you wouldn't have opened up your reply with ad hominem attacks.
I am going to throw this out there, why are some people so opposed to shooting an albino animal? What is it about these animals that some states have gone as so far as to make them illegal to hunt? All through the ages of man, man has hunted these animals, man has taken an animal as a trophy.
