Apparently the people who are opposed to adding the bumpouts just don't like change, and can't see the big picture for the long run.
What a condescending pile of crap this is. It's one of those things that they've decided we HAVE TO do (and of course, the Tribune is there cheering on the sidelines), to pretty things up. They ask for input, but they're only going to listen to their supporters. I am guessing they restored the firefighter position as a concession. No way could they go ahead with this at the expense of a firefighter.
Keep polishing that turd.

wider sidewalks & bumpouts for the pedestrians! what pedestrians, it is a historical proven trend that the population of freeborn county is declining, so just where is the pedestrian traffic going to come from? i seriously wonder if the stoplights uptown are even required anymore considering the decrease in traffic. imho 4way stop signs would be sufficient! how many of the existing business's will decide it is time to move on when they get their assessment billing for this project? you need population expansion & jobs to support commerce, which freeborn county does not have & has not had for several years! demographics & location are working against us. this trend is not only in freeborn county but also all over the south west of the state.

Yup, coming from the same newspaper that criticized Dan Belshan for pushing for a right turn lane for a $5million dollar business over the recommendations of our local engineer....

Did you even read my post? I KNOW they aren't going to change their mind. They've already decided to do it. They threw us a bone by restoring a firefighter positon they couldn't afford because they knew heads would roll if they then turned around and spent the money on this. My complaint was about the smug jackass condescending "we know it all and you don't" tone of the editorial.
