If you go to ebay and type in Albert Lea they have some cool post cards on there right now. One of the sellers is from Glenville.

That would be the old, old high school.

This seems to be a newer picture of the same building, but some changes have been made. It looks like the 1939 additions were emulating this style. Look at the cornice pattern on the southeast pediment.

Anyone know where any of the Skyline neon signs might be? That would be a collector.

Nice photo of the Skyline Restaurant. It sure rekindled some fond memories of that era. Thanks ICU812

Where is this picture taken from?  I don't "recognize" anything .......... ;)

My guess it that it would have been taken from the old bell tower in the courhouse.  You can see a railroad track, perhaps looking east by northeast--see the railroad bridge over the channel.

If you look at the white printing at the bottom of the picture it says "birdseye view looking east of courthouse."  At least that is what the writing looks like to me.  After Jim pointed out the railroad tracks I can see them now too.

That's really cool, IC!  But 100 bucks for an old post card?  I think the seller must be smikin' something with triple T.

< Gold's Grill >

Never heard of the place, but it must have been there some time in the 50's.  Kinda cool!

Those pictures of the HS are actually the JR and what it looked like before it was wrecked when Brookside school was build.  I was in the last 9th grade class to attend the Ole Junior High.  It was quite an interesting building inside with the floors that looked like there were waves down the hallways and even at times couldnt close the stairwell doors cause of how high the floors had risen.  And Golds Grill was on the north end of Broadway next to the BIG Apple Pizza.  I think theres some used appliance place in it now.  I was still Golds Grill in the later 60's too.
