does anyone know what happened to the marquee? Was it just trashed, or is it stored somewhere

I believe the mayor returned it to Marshall Fields for a full refund even though it was slightly stained and had some pigeon droppings on it. :D

this was the place to be in the late 40's on a saturday afternoon! the cost was .12 cents & many the time i did not have measly .12 cents to go tho the movies! roy rogers, gene autry & hopolong cassidy was the general idols of the time. milk duds or juicy fruit was extra nice when one could afford them. john wayne played in "the sands of iwo jima" & that is probably what got me hooked on the marines! the theatre was just jamed with kids & long lines to get in. good memories but poor times!
