He starred in a tv series called "I Led 3 Lives" - he was something like an FBI agent who infiltrated communist cells in the USA [1953-1956]. He also had a major role in an old b/w movie about Thomas Jefferson if I recall my high school days well enough. He acted in many major movies in the years just prior to WW2. I guess he's not as famous as Happy Days Ross, but he was known as an excellent serious actor. from the internet: He was born 4/29/1912 in AL and died 11/24/1977.
