Sorry.  New at this.  Anybody have info on how to research Timothy J. Sheehan?   Writing a book about him (great grandfather), and his role in Sioux Uprising of 1862.  He was in command of Ft. Ridgely after Capt. John Marsh went to discipline Sioux after first death reports, and was himself killed.

Would be most grateful...

Mike, favorite subject of mine (contrary to a discussion I had on the board earlier this week, I am a history buff) The University of Minnesota has an excellent web site that mentions your relative several times.  www.d.umn.edu/cla/faculty/tbacig/studproj/a1041/siouxup/      There is going to be a filim on the subject, with plans to shoot it in Oregon.  I would also suggest getting in touch with the Minnesota Historical Society on a personal visit. In their archives are rosters and collections of day by day accounts of what happened, the siege at New Ulm etc.  Good luck!  If I dig up anything else, I will connect through this site.
