^^ both vids are encouraging, I like the roof one, sounds very promising. Self driving cars? Still aways off. As far as your fantasy of putting me out of business with self driving trucks? I'll be retired before that happens.

The mental retirement continues unabated, though, right?

No doubt impressive, less moving parts, no transmission to speak of and screaming acceleration.
Price is even coming down. Now if they could just get over 500 mile range.

While increased range is a good thing certainly, they have gone to great lengths to mitigate that weak point.  There are very few places that aren't easily accessible to a supercharger location that will give you 50% battery in about 20 minutes.  That's a quick lunch at McDonalds while you wait.  ~250 miles is about as far as I want to drive before a snack/bathroom/stretch break anyways unless I have a very specific deadline or destination.

Aside from that if you have a substantial daily commute maxing out the 290 mile range, charging at home will only take you 6 hours with the standard high amp charging circuit.  With MN electric prices thats right around $12 in electricity to charge your car after a 300 mile commute. Or comparable to ~55MPG.  https://www.tesla.com/support/home-charging-calculator?redirect=no

I looked into solar shingles prior to having my roof replaced in November of 2015.. The cost for solar shingles was $17,000 and I got my roof done with asphalt shingles for $10,000..

I really liked the idea but it was too expensive for what I could afford.. They didn't even cover the whole roof.. Asphalt shingles had to be used at all the edges of the roof.. FYI
