from what i hear the upgrading from xp to windows 7 on your current computer is going to be a real pain! got the following from cnn:
But there's one hitch and it's a biggie: upgrading is far from easy. XP users who choose to upgrade their computers to Windows 7 will have to either wipe their hard drives or re-install all of their applications. That means finding the product keys and old CDs. As a result, some experts say XP users interested in Windows 7 are better off just buying a new computer.
from the looks of this i will not be upgrading any time soon, i will have to wait until i decide to buy a new computer.  :hairpull:

I got an e-mail from Best Buy about this recently.  I think with the laptop I bought last summer they'd give me a free upgrade to Windows 7.  Not sure if I'm interested or not anyway though.  We'll have to see what people say about how it is on resources, security, etc.  I've heard many say that Microsoft always needs time to work the bugs out of their stuff.  I'm not a tech guy, but I figured waiting until the first service pack was issued on a new OS was a good rule of thumb for Microsoft stuff.

Just my 2 cents...

Actually, Windows 7 is really solid especially upgrading from Vista.  I have been running it for several months now with no crashes, half the RAM memory of Vista and most all the same features.  This was the the OS to remove the nail from the coffin that Vista had put into Microsoft.  The project manager for Vista took millions in dollars in signing bonuses to come to Amazon.com before the Microsoft Vista project was over.  I have to say, so far they have come through with something as worthy(if your not into linux, mac or be os) as XP. My store has copies now and they are selling out.
