I saw this on the news last night.

Quote
Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (WMT) said Tuesday it will test sales in some stores of biblical action figures whose makers say they are aimed at Christian parents who prefer their children play with Samson, David or Noah rather than with a comic book character or Bratz doll.

Wal-Mart spokeswoman Melissa O'Brien said the toys made by One2believe, a Valencia, Calif., company, will be offered in 425 of Wal-Mart's 3,376 discount stores and Supercenters.

One2believe Chief Executive David Socha said his products were part of a " battle for the toy box" with dolls and figures that he said carry negative messages.

"If you're very religious, it's a battle for your children's minds and what they're playing with and pretending. There are remakes out there of Satan and evil things," Socha said.

I'm just not sure how a four or five year old will play with these.

I can just see my 5y.o. nephew doing battle with a Christ action figure in one hand and a transformer in the other.

What's your take on these figures?

When I used to have action figures, sometimes they would fall apart while playing.  Will the kids feel guilty if Jesus accidentally gets amputated or beheaded while playing?

Will the kids feel guilty if Jesus accidentally gets amputated or beheaded while playing?

Being the mom of two boys, this is so true. Every action figure had something taken off of it or was banged on the floor numerous times and with sound effects involved if it were two actions figures going at it in combat.

This may work for girls that play with dolls if Jesus comes with accessories :sarcasm: but I just can't see boys having conversations through the dolls "so tell me Noah just how did you build that arc?" :;):

Hrmmm...kind of says it all now doesn't it? Get brainwashed by me, not satans toys. You'll be brainwashed just like I was, it's a family tradition.

I really don't think this is a good toy to have out there for all of the reasons already stated and then some. Kids play with dolls called "Barbie", "Ken", "Barney", "Shrek" ... do we really want our children putting Jesus on the same playing ground with Dora the Explorer?

Their intentions are good, but I think the results will be a rude awakening for religious families.

I'm trying to figure out whether or not my Gilligan action figure is good or evil...  :dunno:

What's funny is that the image of Jesus is a long haired hippy liberal. Kind of odd for all these self righteous right wing neocons who always claim to speak for Jesus. I got a feeling they'd be all over Jesus like they were Bill Clinton!   They'd have Jesus at Gitmo or posing in pictures of guys mounting guys while female GI's pointed at his ballz.

Oh look, here's Jesus now.
