On this forum, we hear a lot about bad customer service. I want to post my story about some recent GOOD customer service:

A week or so ago, my wife and I had our annual eye exam. This year, we chose to go to the Albert Lea Eye Clinic for several reasons:

1. They are covered by our insurance provider.
2. Dissatisfaction with Wal-Mart and ShopKo optical shops.

We were surprised to hear the doctor there tell us that although our prescription had changed slightly, there was no real need for us to get a new prescription filled this year (unless we wanted new frames), as the change was slight. She also told us that it wasn't necessary to have our eyes checked every year - every other year would be fine.

We've had "slight" changes in our prescription in the past, and the "doctors" at ShopKo and Wal-Mart have told us we NEEDED to get a new prescription.

I suppose if you go to a retail outlet for a professional service, you can expect them to try to sell something to you. As for us, we're sold on Albert Lea Eye Clinic. If you need an I exam, I would highly recommend them!

Anybody else have any "good customer service" stories?

My wife bought some flowers at Hy-Vee a couple of weeks ago.  They looked good, but had "rust"--something on the stems--that made them wilt after just a day.  She didn't say anything, but yesterday, decided to talk to the flower shop after buying groceries.  She mentioned the "rust"--the saleslady told her that if she had just wiped it off, the flowers would have lasted longer--but then gave her new flowers with an explanation "you shouldn't have to do that (wipe off the rust)--that's what we're here for."  She identified the problem and made good on the sale, on the spot, no "bucking it up to management".

Hy-Vee is employee-owned, they have an extensive customer service training program.  Ask a shelf stocker where something is--they are instructed to leave what they are doing, and accompany the customer to the desired item.  A class outfit.

Scurvy Dog-  I had a similar experience at Innovision eye care uptown.  I hadn't had an exam in atleast a couple years, but he said that my prescription only changed slightly, so it wasn't really necessary to change it.
I decided to go there because even though I didn't get my glasses there and hadn't ever bought anything from them, they always were pleasant and helpful.  I've had them tighten the screws on my glasses and re-adjust the frames several times for no charge, and they always seemed happy to do it.

I've heard that Collins Auto Repair is supposed to be really good, too, and reasonably priced. I haven't had enough work done there to make that judgment for myself, but I was pleased with the results the one time I did go there.

I will also say that Collins Auto is very good and have recommended him to others.  Marc is very good at what he does.
