Heard through the grapevine some dirt about the City airport recently. Heard the person running it is making a bunch of money off of the City property. Heard he is renting out portions of the airport to private entities and collecting the rent money, the City gets none. He is supposedly also running a private business out of the building himself and not paying the city any rent for the space. Sounds like a good business to get in.

lets just say that one of my sources heard it from a city councilor. Just a heads up but once the current airport manager's buddy is no longer the city manager, there will be changes.

The person attacking Jim and trying to start rumors normally posts under the name Guest. After one of the moderators deleted a bunch of Guests posts last week he/she just came back using the name grapevine.Guest/Grapevine you're a liar you didn't just hear this rumor, you've been trying to start the rumor for a couple months now.
The moderators see the IP address at the bottom of every post so we know that this is the same person. A reverse DNS lookup on grapevines IP is very interesting also.

What I love about this is, these ppl think that they can mess with our friends on this forum and start rumors. Well, you guys are alot more saavy than they think. Liberal, Jim and all other moderators, GOOD JOB!!!!

Only bad part is you will probably never find the exact person posting. Most net connections are split via routers & switches. The company I work for probably has 1000 PC's on the net at any given time, to the outside world, they all have the same IP address. I am all for having fun around here & messing around but the rumor starting is a little over the line, you really shouldn't be messing with people's reputation by rumor spreading.

Yes, the person posting as Guest is doing it from a city computer. Take a look at some of the times he or she posts, middle of the day when they should be working. The thing that really gets me though, is that we have an idiot like Guest working for us at the city.
Dont give the moderators to much credit here, at least not all of them. I have been trying to get the others to get rid of Guest for a long time. I was told just the other day that Guest had a right to come in here and post anything he likes. If he wats to just come in and call people names, thats his right.
I dont agree with that, I look at it as everyomne elses right to be able to come in here and post their opinion without being attacked by Guest. Everyone, name one person in this forum that if we could get rid of them today it would make this a better place to visit? My bet is Guest is at the top of the list.
We also let people post under Minnows name, unregistered. If its not registered, its not Minnow.
By the way, I was the moderator that deleted about a dozen of Guests posts a couple of weeks ago. They had nothing to do with anything on the forum, just calling people names. Understand that Guests paln all along was not to be a part of this forum, put to destroy it and ridecule it. The moderators, by our inaction for so long on this matter have let him get away with it.
One last thing, as a reward for me deleting this persons name calling and not allowing him to post unless he truely had something to say, I have had my deleting privaleges taken away by the top moderator.
Its time to stop letting Guests rights to post stand in the way of all others rights to have this forum be what it started out to be, a way for people to get the story and news they wont hear anywherte else in town. Guest has done his job well, this forum is becoming a joke, and the moderators are letting it happen.
If you want things to get better and change, tell all the moderators that some Guests have wore out their welcome amd will not be allowed to post again. The forum was a much better place the the days after I deleted Guests posts. Asatter of fact, he sat at his puter at city hall and as soon as I would delete it, he would post another cussing me out.
In closing, dont give any of the moderators credit for doing anything to solve this problem, its our fault for letting it go on this long.

I still didn't ban guest. If he/she wants to come in here and call me or you names then that's still their right. Just like it will soon be everyone in this counties right to go to a county board meeting and say whatever they want without fear of being banned from meetings.And as far as me taking away the moderators ability to delete post I took away all moderators ability to delete posts because all but one of the mods called me and asked me to do it. Moderators all still have the ability to edit any post, they just can't delete entire threads or posts.
Hoosier, we all discussed what was to be deleted and what wasn't, the only thing the mods are here for is to remove obscene language we are not here to referee fights, pass judgement on others ideas or even defend other users from name calling idiots. If someone comes on the forum with the sole purpose of insulting the forum and its users then that's the price we have to pay for free speech and I personally don't see any difference between what guest does here and what Roger Bok does at meetings.

Hoosier and Liberal, I think there is a happy medium here.I myself have slowed my participation in this forum mainly due to the virtual 'free-for-all' that goes on here. This forum is one of the few that I have come across that allows posts from unregistered users, because of the nature of abuse brought about by such ability. Now that abuse is more the norm than the exception.
My suggestion? Easy, you can simply modify this forum so that you do not need to be registered to view it, but must register to post to it. Unless things have changed, when I registered here it took all of 30 seconds and it was done, there was no verification or waiting for moderator approval, just a few questions and an e-mail address. It's not that difficult, and it keeps people to at least post consistently using the same name, and at the same time eliminates all the posting under other users nicks.
Liberal, while everyone has the right to speak at the board meetings, I still believe that they also have to identify themselves and that you can not speak from the shadows giving someone else's name. While no one is asking for a person to identify themselves here, at least a consistent user name would put more things together. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to tell you how to run your forum, but I'm just offering a simple solution to try and make this a better place to visit.
