For four years under Trump we never once heard any R's say anything about concerns of spending nor balancing the budget.

The US government hasn't run a fiscal surplus since 2001. Under President Trump, the deficit increased every single year and ballooned to more than $3 trillion in 2020 due to the government's response to the pandemic.
Under Trump, the US debt increased by a total of $7 trillion and during his presidency Congress voted to increase the debt ceiling three times.

Why was it okay then but not now?

Posted by Self-Banished on Jan. 05 2022,6:17 am
^^ why is it ok now?

A stellar economy

Low unemployment

Low energy prices

And let’s not forget inflation.

Be sure to celebrate tomorrow AC

Blinding stupidity that you more than likely don’t have the slightest idea why Jan 6th happened. We can start with the fact that an unarmed veteran lost her life due to an over zealous rent a cop, the sad part is that he was never charged, unlike the Mpls cop who was found guilty of murdering a thug who was trying to flee.

The capital killer was more than likely a pedocrat, seems to be the order of things now days, if one has the proper political affiliation you’re free to break the law

Kinda like the Hennepin county sheriff

and - as normal you cant just stay on one event.  Much easier for your lack of understanding to try and conflate events to try and make yourself see right.

I see you have not changed.  You think name calling and such make you a man, it does not, it shows your true soul and purpose.  I had hoped the last year you may have grown as a human, a member of society, and in spirit, I hope you do so this year.

I pray for you, all the others who are blinded by their misconstrued beliefs (most of which are founded in uninformed hatred) and this country on this sad anniversary of a want to be dictator trying to end democracy.

Posted by was1 on Jan. 07 2022,6:08 am
It seems you have not and will not change. You are incapable of having any type of discussion nor able to respond to someone sans name calling and attempting to insult.

You are who you are.  You are what you believe.  I appreciate your perspective and would love to l learn and try to understand  why you think and believe what you do.

Good luck to you.  I wish nothing but peace, health and prosperity to you and your family in 2022 and hope you spend part of the year trying  meditation and thinking about others and how you can be a lighthouse instead of an iceberg.

“Words have the power to both destroy and heal. When words are both true and kind, they can change our world.”  Siddhartha Gautama

Posted by Self-Banished on Jan. 07 2022,8:34 am
^^ why would I change? I call ‘em as I see ‘em, no wishy washy, no quoting obscure philosophers, I am a product of my up bringing and environment.
Posted by was1 on Jan. 07 2022,9:10 am
If one does not seek to learn, understand and to grow, is one truly living and complete?

You say you like how you are “call it as you see it”. Yet when others do so toward you you lash out like a wounded animal.

Look within to see truly why you are how you are. Why you treat others as you do.  Fear not what you will find, even though truth can bring pain.

Posted by Self-Banished on Jan. 07 2022,12:37 pm

Serious question

can more be transported by rail and then the trucking would be shorter hauls direct from rail locations?  Or is it a function of where distribution centers are located?

multifold possible benefits 1) rail has far less fuel use thus less carbon emissions. 2) trucks running shorter distances leads to less trucking on interstates leading to less wear and tear on the system equating to less maintenance costs. 3) there just are not enough truckers now, will having shorter hauls (if that is even possible as i noted above regarding distribution center locations) result in cutting the shortage of drivers?

I’ll be nice this morning and just refer to you as “a day late”

Rail roads have been hauling the bulk of freight for decades, myself for 37 years. Domestic, import/export, specialized, you name it, they do it. In this market the Burlington Northern is the big player but the Canadian Pacific made a huge advance by finishing the purchase of the Kansas City Southern. This move will increase Mexican fright and will most likely spur a very large port on their west coast.

Thanks

I guess what I’m more trying to ask, is it possible to have the rail haul to more locations and then have just more localized truck haul

For instance let’s say Walmart .  Would it be economically feasible to load up a train from Walmart distribution center with tractor trailers loaded for individual stores?  And then say install of them all being dropped off in Minneapolis and then trucked around the region the train makes stops like at Albert Lea and drops off the trailers for that store?  Then, depending obviously on the rail route, same in Mankato, owatonna, Austin, etc?   Run that all the way to Duluth and the range?

Just throwing out some ideas and looking for legitimate reasoning as to if it makes any sense or not and then why

Posted by Self-Banished on Feb. 11 2022,7:17 pm
^^ trackage now pretty much much is what it is, Walmart has a huge distribution center in Menominee Wi, so does Menards, Aldo in Faribault and Mankato, Target has a couple DC’s in the cities. Land for storage of containers and trailers is at a premium, I know two of the empty depots for container pay over 70k a month for there yards each one about 4-5 acres. The two rails are pretty much set where they’re at in Minneapolis and St Paul, there’s been talk of a super site for decades but it hasn’t happened.

Your idea is a wonderful pipe dream but the amount of equipment, space and right of way just doesn’t exist.

^^Careful where you live nowadays , I was lucky when I chose my cities residence. Less than a mile from a major hospital. When I chose the house I’ll eventually retire to, I’m within 20 miles of 2 hospitals, 30 to a third.

AL hasn’t been too progressive in a lot of prospects.

Posted by Expatriate on May 16 2024,4:15 am
^^^ This one is nonpartisan, what Mayo did to Albert Lea is happening Nationally..
We were hornswoggled by corporate medicine..

The article refers to one of Albert Lea's more influential citizens, who provides employment for 100's of Albert Lean's, Wealthy, yes, I'd venture to say!
If she's having difficulty finding a Hospital Bed do you think anyone else from
Albert Lea will fair better!

When I retired in 2015 and moved back to Albert Lea, ( my hometown ) we had a Hospital...

Albert Lea's problem is too many Republican's who continually vote to screw themself...

Posted by Self-Banished on May 16 2024,3:33 pm
^^ yeah, AL is a thriving town🤣🤣🤣. If you’re real nice to him Gov Potatohead will give you a packing plant or maybe an assembly center filled with retards like you🤡.

My recent visit down there proved to me that nothing has changed, still the same town, same losers. I’m sure glad I didn’t buy a house there.
