To me, this was his low point. To give a politicized speech at the National Jamboree to 35,000+ Boy Scouts is just wrong on so many levels.
If you are going to go there and talk to the Scouts than do so in a good and positive way, not one in which you get them to boo the former president, hammer the media and even threaten the job of one of your cabinet members, who was a Boy Scout.
Someone in his circle has got to get some type of control on him and get him to wake up a little.

Trump is a mere distraction, his antics and hate speech eat the headlines while the Republicans decimate the country.

From the article: "The savings from these devastating cuts will likely go to tax breaks for the wealthy. Last year’s House Republican tax plan gave 99.6% of its benefits to the top one-percent of earners, with virtually nothing for middle and low income Americans."
Yeah. Put sick and elderly people in yet more jeopardy, and pass the savings onto rich f@cks that don't need the money they have already.
This is making America great again???

^^ JEEZUS, When a f$king broken record. You are practiced in this response or do you occasionally have to go to CNN for talking points.
Posted by was1 on Jul. 25 2017,1:18 pm
This is not about Obama, however, he did send a video message in 2010. He also met with scouts at other times. Also, a number of other past presidents did not attend Jamborees while they were in office.
No other president who has attended or sent a message ever used the platform to do what Trump did. It was not a political rally, it was a Boy Scout Jamboree. Trump would have done good to have looked back at what previous Presidents have done for the Jamboree.
Shows me a few things: 1) if it is not all about him, he will make it be. 2) He has no clue of how to learn who his audience will be and then speak to them. 3) even when he does something this wrong/disgusting/confusing/idiotic the Trumpers will still 100% support it. Sad, very sad.

The IMF lowered its economic growth forecasts for the United States to 2.1% for this year and the next, down from the 2.3% for 2017 and 2.5% for 2018 that it had predicted in April.
The forecasts are a far cry from the 4% growth President Trump promised on the campaign trail, and lower than the 3% growth he targeted since assuming office.

Trump is touting this just like the Carrier fiasco, he gave them 7 million in taxpayer money and they moved the jobs to Mexico. You have to wonder how much Foxxconn will get in taxpayer money.

Back on Topic . . .
The Boy Scouts of America issued a letter apology for the "political" nature of Trump's speech. I felt it was a good letter and said what it needed to. Unfortunately, the White House refuses to acknowledge that what was done and said was not appropriate. And even sadder to me, is the comments that some have made on the Boy Scout site where the letter is posted. The way they are complaining about it (both ways some for some against) is more disgusting than what he said.

GDP(Economic Growth) and Dow/Jones have nothing in common.. Obama created an economic environment that put the DOW at 22,000.. Numb Nuts had nothing to do with it...
The markets know Trump is close to powerless to change the stability of Obama policy which eliminates the uncertainty..
Markets don't like uncertainty..

Yes Al, the market hates uncertainty thus the cause for the snails like pace over the last 8 years. In the last 8-9 months the market has gained tremendously, nearing 25%, wow! If stroke lady had been elected we'd most likely be cycling through a recession now.
And now, the next hurdle, NOKO, hopefully China will step up and sing Kimmy a lullaby, maybe one he doesn't awake from. It's in China's best interest, if Kimmy drops an egg it's gonna upset the whole apple cart and the world's economy possibly goes into the sh!tter.

The Dow? Seriously? That thing is a fracking bubble of imaginary currency, being shuffled about in a craps game, by @ssholes rolling loaded dice. F@¢k that. That right there will be the instrument of more fiscal undoing, long before weed-smoking welfare recipients, the villain of the piece you conservative wingnuts would have the rest of us fixate on.
And, by the way, the chaos of '07 came about during the lame duck term of Bush #43, a Republican President. To indicate a belief that this was somehow Obama's fault suggests a real and present disconnect from reality. Trump will preside over the biggest economic collapse since '07, and still you tards will still be saying that it's somehow Obama's fault.
Posted by Self-Banished on Aug. 15 2017,6:25 am
The DOW is how businesses get financed, people invest to hopefully grow there money with the company, it doesn't always work but no one's forcing anybody. Research and smart decisions rule the day.
So I must repeat myself, the recession of 07 was caused by policies put in place by liberal idiots who pretty much forced banks to lend to less than credit worthy borrowers, morons that bought more house than they could afford with little down, that when interest rates dropped and they could refinance to lower their payment or term used their house like a kid with a piggy bank, hammer and total lack of common sense.
The auto makers sold their souls the the devil (unions) years ago by bending over every time there was a threat of a shutdown. These and a few other factors drove a slightly worse than usual recession.
Buster and his pet media suckered the gullible in this country into thinking this was the worst economic set back since FDR unnecessarily lengthened the depression then used that impression to make himself look moderately good when the economy started crawling back which it should have roared back.

Of course, more regulation, stupid people need to be saved from their own stupidity. Never mind there were far more idiots that borrowed 110% of the equity in their home when the market reached the top. There were far more of these types than the "McMansion" owners. Nobody held a gun to their heads and said "sign for the loan"
And of course the unions aren't at fault Decades of politicians wanting nothing more than to be reelected so they capitulated and gave the government union dweebs whatever they wanted, that chicken has yet to roost but it's coming, soon, look at Illinois or California.
Yes, some banks and hucksters are to blame but the majority of the blame goes to the irresponsible, the twits that were brainlessly lured by liberal idealists who convinced them that they were owed.

^^^^You have the right idea on credit debt but you're pointing the finger at the wrong culprit.. Maybe you don't remember because you're not old enough, but in the sixties/seventies you had to prove yourself before credit was extended. Credit cards weren't just handed out in mailed advertisements, home loans required a substantial down-payment. This was all part of New Deal legislation, restrictions on mortgage lending, These restrictions were put in place in the 1930s by political leaders who had just experienced a terrible financial crisis, and were trying to prevent another.
So what happened, Reagan and the era of deregulation, to quote Ronny "Government is the problem, not the solution"... Deregulation has turn America into a credit based economy doomed to failure..
There’s plenty of blame to go around, But Reagan and his administration hold the most , they forgot the lessons of America’s last great financial crisis,( The Great Depression ) and condemned the rest of us to repeat it.
Deregulation is the enemy of our society...

President Hosts Conference on Minority Homeownership October 15, 2002
Today's Presidential Action
President George W. Bush hosted the White House Conference on Minority Homeownership to discuss public and private sector efforts to address the homeownership gap and increase the number of minority homeowners in America.
In June, President Bush announced the national goal of increasing the number of minority homeowners by at least 5.5 million by the end of this decade. Meeting the President's goal will not only help more Americans enjoy the benefits of owning their own homes it will also help strengthen America's economy. According to a study released today by the Department of Housing and Urban Development, meeting the President's goal will involve $256 billion in economic activity in the form of construction and remodeling jobs, spending on household goods, and other benefits.
Background on Today's Presidential Action
While the overall homeownership rate has reached an all-time high of nearly 68 percent, recent statistics point to a homeownership gap. The second quarter 2002 Census data show that non-Hispanic whites have a 74.3% homeownership rate, while African-Americans have a 48% rate, Hispanics a 47.6% rate; and Asian-Americans and other races a 53.7% homeownership rate.
In June, President Bush announced an aggressive homeownership agenda to dismantle barriers to homeownership by providing down payment assistance, increasing the supply of affordable homes, increasing support for self-help homeownership programs, and simplifying the homebuying process and increasing education. The President also issued "America's Homeownership Challenge" to the real estate and mortgage finance industries to join in his effort to increase the number of minority homeowners by taking concrete steps to tear down the barriers to homeownership that face minority families.
The Bush Administration is working to increase homeownership among minority Americans through a number of new and expanded initiatives, as well as through ongoing programs administered by HUD and other federal departments, including:
Providing Downpayment Assistance. The single biggest barrier to homeownership is accumulating funds for a downpayment. The President has proposed $200 million annually for the American Dream Downpayment Fund to help roughly 40,000 families a year with their downpayment and closing costs. In addition, the Administration has proposed the use of Section 8 funding to assist with downpayments, and provides downpayment assistance to low-income and minority homebuyers through the Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFI) Fund at the Department of Treasury.
Increasing the Supply of Affordable Homes. The President wants to dramatically increase the supply of homes available to low and moderate income families. The President has proposed the Single-Family Affordable Housing Tax Credit, which will provide approximately $2.4 billion to encourage the production of 200,000 affordable homes for sale to low and moderate income families.
Increasing Support for Self-Help Homeownership Programs. The President's budget triples funding for organizations like Habitat for Humanity that help families help themselves become homeowners through 'sweat equity' and volunteerism in their communities.
Simplifying the Home Buying Process & Increasing Education. Today's homebuyers face a confusing and complicated process. President Bush wants to empower homebuyers by making it easier for them to understand the process and benefit from cost savings. Through the Homebuyer Bill of Rights, the Bush Administration is proposing to make the settlement process easier for all consumers when purchasing a home, thereby protecting homebuyers through increased competition and simplicity. Working together, the Federal Trade Commission and HUD have begun targeting enforcement activities to stop predatory lenders from preying on uneducated homebuyers. The President also wants to expand financial education efforts so families can better understand what they need to do to become homeowners. The Departments of HUD, Treasury, and Education are working diligently to educate families about homeownership through counseling programs and financial literacy efforts. Specifically, HUD has proposed increasing housing counseling activities by 75% and is collaborating with the FDIC on a "MONEY SMART" program of financial education in minority neighborhoods.
Providing Better Financing Opportunities. The Departments of HUD and Agriculture make it possible for thousands upon thousands of families to achieve homeownership through the Federal and Rural Housing Administrations, which insure almost $100 billion in loans each year. The Administration also implemented a hybrid Adjustable Rate Mortgage (ARM) product that makes it easier for new homebuyers to stay in their homes in the first few years.
America's Homeownership Challenge
Since the President's call to action in June, private and nonprofit partners in the real estate and mortgage finance industries have been working with the Department of Housing and Urban Development to increase minority homeownership. Commitments made by these partners include:
Substantially increasing, by at least $440 billion, the financial commitment made by the government-sponsored enterprises involved in the secondary mortgage market specifically targeted toward the minority market.
Launching twenty-five different local initiatives across the nation, geared toward eliminating the specific homeownership barriers faced by minority families in those communities;
Raising $750 million in below-market-rate investments by 2007, which will work in collaboration with local homeownership initiatives and be targeted to heavily minority program areas;
Pursuing strategic partnerships in 20 top housing markets between homebuilders, lenders, local officials, and community leaders to develop approaches that address the local challenges to building homes for minority families living in urban centers;
Establishing faith-based housing partnerships between the participants and at least 100 churches, mosques, synagogues, and other faith-based institutions;
Aggressively developing new mortgage products so that conventional market alternatives are available to combat the predatory loan products that are disproportionately targeted to minorities;
Creating new mortgage products to meet the unique needs of recent immigrants;
Dramatically expanding financial education efforts for minorities, providing financial counseling to at least 380,000 minority families, and taking measures at the local level to reduce predatory lending; and
Establishing multilingual, consumer-oriented Internet Web sites designed to help minorities overcome barriers to homeownership, including creation of a central data bank of affordable housing programs made available to real estate agents when working with clients.

sorry about the link. Don't know why it did not work but that is the correct story.
I had to do some looking but did find that the 333 rounds for O is correct.
However, as of Aug 1, at similar time in office, O had 11 T has played 21. So, if the $60k in carts is accurate and also through Aug 1, that is $2,857/ round. I'm not a golfer, but that seems high. Even at $50/round/cart that's about 57 carts per round.
Bigger issue to me is you add this cost on top of what he is charging the secret service for the office space in trump tower. At the reported $130,000 per month, it was one of the costliest rental properties in Manhattan.

Minnesota's taxpayer will be responsible for the shortfall in revenue when Trump and the Republicans cause a federal shutdown.

Ah yes, a shutdown, noble if the Nazi party stages it, heresy if any opposition causes it and the lame stream press is the enabling participant.
Posted by was1 on Oct. 02 2017,12:37 pm
Any government shutdown is a total embarrassment and a slap in the face to every taxpayer. The cost that is incurred due to the shutdowns is insane. If a shutdown happens, they should be the ones that do not get paid for the length of the shut down. Also, their health care should be canceled with any shut down is happening. Speaking of their health care, they should be on whatever plan that is the average of every US citizen, not their nice cushy plan that never gets touched.
Until some true leaders step up in each party, nothing will happen with health care. The R's have spent 8 years being the party of "no" and do nothing, and now they cant get out of that rut. And now the D's what to do the same. Idiots. All of them.
Also, sadly, no one in either party realizes that they need to work together to get things done. I swear a D could come up with a cure for cancer and every R would vote against it. And a R could come up with a solution to cheap, clean energy and every D would vote against it.
Just about every one of them needs to be voted out of office.

Posted by Expatriate on Oct. 25 2017,8:18 am
It's called a bubble, bubbles pop, the markets driven by speculation on what might occur, also increasing the money supply and keeping interest rates low during the past decade, the Fed instigated the rapid expansion that preceded the coming collapse in an effort to save US from the Bush economy, so far Trump seems destine to repeat the failed trickle down policy of the past.
When you add to that Trump and his Administration (wall street oligarchs) continue to erode protections installed for the investor. Trumps protectionist tariffs will also play a part in this collapse.
Trump is still cruising on Obama's last budget and the Boomers retiring in mass, this will be Trump's first budget Congress passed, things look bleak, next year or the year after will be a repeat of 1929...If trump doesn't blunder US into WW3 first..game over lights out...

Fresh from the Bureau of Labor Statistics Data, bad news for Trump's AmeriKKKa jobs are actually running in the negative, a view of the enclosed chart shows the last time this happened Bush was President, or Obama was wrestling US out of the Bush Great Recession, What's that say about the Republicans and the economy?
The chart shows hours and earnings, when earnings drop spending drops the economy suffers, this starts a downward cycle... Trump will tweet you into prosperity... Remember he's the bankruptcy KING...
Actually natural disasters have a positive effect on the economy just the opposite of what you suggest, rebuilding activity generates both increased sales tax receipts and additional employment.

The amount of Americans filing unemployment increased less than expected
Retail inventories fell, the trade deficit increased meaning more imports (yeah, I've noticed, ' been busy as hell)
Over 138 weeks claimes stayed below the 300000 mark which means a strong labor market
And the labor market is tightening.

increasing trade deficit is not a good thing

You Republicans Stooges have been trying to convict Clinton for forty years, she's been investigated by the FBI and more Congressional committees than you can count all at the bequest of Republican partisanship and they've found no wrong doing! (a total waste of tax dollars playing politics)
There's a lot of ties between Trump and Russia, particularly the Russian mafia/oligarchs, let the investigation proceed, we need more transparency on the Trump organization.
He's being investigated by a Republican appointted by a Republican who was appointed by the Trump administration. Trump fired Comey (FBI) and was dumb enough to state he was fired for investigating the Trump/Russia ties, that in-itself = Obstruction of Justice under the Constitution an impeachable crime.
Looking at Trump's tweets lately he seems hysterical, there's a panic in his tweets that magnifies the need to remove this unstable individual from the Presidency...

To a degree I could care less about Trump's sex life(consensual), but the fact that he had unprotected sex with a porn star shows a definite lack of judgment. Trump has a large number of women claiming sexual assault I believe the number to be around 20 or so...
His tweets are becoming more and more erratic, his political appointments more hawkish.
He's spending money like a drunken sailor, if you were a true conservative you'd be alarmed.
I believe Trump is breaking under the pressure..
He'll be a one term President, I just hope he doesn't get US into a real war, we got enough bush wars still going on...
