Harley Davidson's just don't hold their value...

Classy old bike, antiques usually fetch a premium.

My preference is a bike the is actually ridable, handles nicely, and starts with the touch of a button.

^^BMW has been having problems with driveshaft failures.. lots of recalls on that snob bike..spendy repairs, poor design for maintenance..

Yep they have, usually it's from a lack of maintenance, the clutch splines are usually what's overlooked. They have level 1 and level two services, level 2's are usually every 2-3 years depending on miles ridden, usually north of a grand. The thing is these bikes are 150k plus lives, you get what you pay for.

^^ Those types of bikes are meant to be rode hard, I broke a few myself (not BMW)in my younger years, one even broke me, still have the scars to prove.

BMW and Harley are two different animals, one for refinement and reliability, the other for "keeping up with the Jone's"

Posted by Expatriate on Aug. 27 2016,7:37 am
Harley has a problem with cam chain tensioner design, they moved to a hydraulic style in 2007 that extended the mileage before maintenance is required but compared to BMW Harley's maintenance procedure is a breeze.

this isn't your Grandpa's BMW, the old ones made that odometer turnover with limited maintenance.
Check out how much disassembly is required on these plastic snob bikes, major money wasted, idgit.

^^ yep, shaft failure (I imagine you're familiar with that ) As I posted earlier, lack of preventative maintenance, in other words, the owner was an idiot like you. If you buy an expensive toy one needs to take care of it.

I gave up riding ten years ago, too many cell phone taking-text while driving with knees- hijab wearing morons like you.

Now boats are a different story. :D

About $2.00 a bushel for feed. And $4.00 for malting.

WTF it's a design flaw on this plastic POS, a defect just like you!
I doubted you've ever had a motorcycle then I found this footage of you, the truck driver physique was the identifying factor..

^^ nope, never rode a scooter, with those small wheels they're death waiting to happen (but feel free to enjoy one, maybe on your nightly trip to the rest area😂)

I've owned Hondas Yamahas(excellant product line, my new outboard is a Yamaha) Kawasakis, even old English stuff like Norton and BSA. I'm up north this week fishing and saw a BMW GS with Alaska plates on it, not all that uncommon for that bike.

I haven't rode in probably 6-7 years but I plan to again soon and I guarentee it won't be a POS bike like a Puke Davidson.

Get out and enjoy life, do something besides sitting in your apartment bitching at people.

If you're that big you need something Harley-like.

I would rank Japanese bikes:

1. Honda
2. Suzuki
3. Kawasaki
4. Yamaha

I rated Kawasaki over Yamaha because they ushered in the crotch-rocket speed bike and John Deere put their motors on their lawn mowers.

Also Yamaha dirt bikes never seemed to be able to take much aggressive driving.  At least that was my experience with them and watching others.

But products and companies can change over time for better or worse. Look at Samsung for example: They sure seemed to have taken a much better position than they used to have.

I'm sure your Yammie boat motor is just fine.

If you get a well built moped/scooter they can work just fine. Especially if you only have a relatively small distance to travel.

Personally They're all fun to me. A bike or scooter that runs is bliss. Back in the Stand by Me days we were always happy to have anything. And you just didn't really think about brand names and such when you were riding them.

I find that all to be a silly distraction from the sublime experience of being on a bike.

Honda's CB 750 came in in 1969, brew all competitors out of the water, 7 years later the Gold Wing, Honda's been doing it right a long time.

The various reverse trikes look interesting.  I saw a Batmobile looking one in Mankato a few weeks ago that looked pretty neat.

Danica Patrick was endorsing them for a while. They don't seem to be going anywhere.  I thought they said you don't need a motorcycle endorsement for one either.

They sure don't seem to be going away.

It would be fun to take one for a spin. . .

^^ pretty much a snowmobile with wheels.
Posted by hymiebravo on Sep. 03 2016,9:38 am
Yeah snowmobile wheel-kits have bean around for what seems like forever. I've never seen anybody actually buy one before, tho.

The grass drags always looked interesting. Well that's one way way of putting it anyway.

There's a pretty elaborate conversion -

Here's a non permanent kit and you can see why no one would bother with it -

Just buy one of these and be done with it

^^I was almost going to call for your "man card" to be revoked because it's electric but I find the engineering on the suspension interesting.

yeah I'm sure, you wouldn't fit on any Harley wide load, your arms are too short to reach the bars.
Posted by Self-Banished on Sep. 08 2016,8:26 am
^^ they fit just fine, last bike I owned was a Dyna, repairable, fixed it, rode it awhile, sold it for a nice profit to some moron with a mid-life going on.

Pretty easy to fix, the only specialized tool you need weighs about 3 lbs and they're found on the ground.

Purchased a brand new Yamaha in 2005 and it only has 1100 miles on it.. I've driven it 300 of those miles..

Never enjoyed bar hopping on a bike, it always interfered with my drinking.. :D  And without a shield the bugs would kick my a$$ on the highway..

Its nice to know its available but would rather have an off road bike at my age and a few acres of land to tear up.. FYI

Well let's see, if you read the link I posted you'd know that the Indian name will  be kept,

At least until some pantywaist whines and says it's offensive.
