QUOTE OF THE DECADE

“A liberal’s paradise would be a place where everybody has guaranteed employment, frQUOTE OF THE DECADEee comprehensive healthcare, free education, free food, free housing, free clothing, free utilities, and only law enforcement has guns. And believe it or not, such a place does indeed already exist: It's called Prison."

--- Sheriff Joe Arpaio, Maricopa County, Arizona

Although I disagree with almost everything you post, it's good to see you back posting. As you may already know there is a sieving process in place here. Those who are "uncooperative" with the established norms of opinion, those contributors are second or third class. And treated accordingly.

Personal opinion is discouraged and ignored if not fitting AL standards. Personal attacks are accepted, politics the religion. I see your latest posts have little or no personal opinion, only that of others found online. That's acceptable to AL standards. The less you think for yourself, the less imaginative you be... the more acceptable your comments.

My opinion of Sheriff Arpaio: a racist bigoted self-indulging thug.

But then personal opinion matters not here.

Just like the guy at 1600 Pennslyvainia?

Of course your opinions matter here, you just need to be prepared to defend them.

I thought we already had the discussion about personal opinions here some time back.

I always liked this quote which, I guess might be considered an opinion and not a fact?

Peronal opinion:

>a personal view, attitude, or appraisal.

>A view or judgement formed about something, not necessarily based on fact or knowledge

People have the OPTION of defending their opinion. But surely not a necessity to make it legitimate, as you suggest. Humans are naturally opinionated. There is no need to defend my humanity.

Opinion is merely circumstantial, information which suggests that something is true but does not prove that it is true.

When personal opinion becomes an obsession it is often confused as infallible or fact, as is indicated among some posts here. When facts become an obsession then opinion does not matter, as is true among the science community...and often here regretfully.

When gathering facts is influenced by opinion(personal or social) we get propaganda, highly prevalent in media. I prefer personal opinons over propaganda.

Sharing opinions---individually or in group mode---is essential to human survival.

And, in my opinion, an Animal Farm mentality exists on this site:  all opinions are equal. Except some opinions are more equal than others.

After weeks, months, years the absolute total obsession with politics becomes painfully boring, as SB indicated.

MD---Debating politics endlessly is okay, but a second time around on this issue is unnacceptable?

The Breeze and a few others proudfully post links and speeches from god knows where(I refuse to play the link game). But they seldom share any personal creative thinking or debate. Parroting and plagarizing others is not worthy conversation or debate.

Not to mention a few posters in the democratic socialist category.

But then this thread is more about quotes?

At least America offers us choices. Some choose democratic socialism, some choose corporate socialism. Others choose the flavor of the day. Others are cynics jeering from their couch.

Joe Arpaio is a reflection of his voting base. Fine. Last election this area elected its version of Arpaio. Local elections are far more interesting than national or state elections. Local elections have more flavor of who or what the public is.

One concern: who is illegaling importing all the parrots into this area?

To do a bit of fact checking(my bad) on this I scrolled back a few pages. Out of a half dozen or so posts by "Puff of Wind" ninety-nine percent were others' quotes or material.

In a way it's a clever tactic. If the borrowed quotes posted are questioned there is less consequence to whomever does the posting. They don't own the quote. If the quote is applauded the poster can proudly share the praise.

Ah yes, but once in a while it's 'food for fodder.'
