I’m going to need an ISP in  Albert Lea, it has to be unlimited at least 7 Mbps or faster.
I just want internet no cable TV or phone!
Charter says they’ll give me 30 Mbps for $40. haven’t talk to Centurylink  yet.
Is SMIG still around or did they die with dial-up.

ideas?

30mbps.? Even up here in the woods we get 100mbps.

^I do like that grassman estate, even see that wind turbine of yours!

More then 5 to 7 Mbps is just wasted speed for me and that equates to wasted dollars.

The new LTE is 320 or 340 mbps download speeds. Sort of crazy to be able to download a 720p hi def movie in about 30 seconds. Not sure why I need that. Memory has become so cheap I put movies on 64gb SD cards and I have probably my 30 favorite movies, a half dozen I haven't seen and 1 for my wife and kids. (They're readers) that I can watch anytime.

I ise charter but I hate them, the internet goes out nearly daily and at least once a week I have to reboot my cable modem and router. It's a real pain because I use a portable 1.5tb drive on my routers file server and you have to unmount the drive or it will corrupt the files about 1 out of 10 times and my router has to be accessed by the internet so I have to reboot without unmounting.

I think i find myself saying, "God, Charter Sucks!" At least once a weak.

I'd love to get Dish and a good fast internet provider and dump charter. It really bugs me to give such a lame company $240 a month.

thanks,
I’m with a telecom now, their service is great, I’ll miss them but it would run long distance fees to continue in AL,
but DSL has worked for me, HULU, Crackle, youtube  and all the major networks stream without a hitch.

Charter has cut down a tree in my honor, I swear they two pieces of mail a week.

think I need a hard line, I do use a router but still hard line the main machine.

I only have basic cable and internet through Charter.  Speed is great, but like lib I need to reboot the modem at least once a month.  Frustrating as hell.

thanks GIL,
Looks like I’m limited to a few choices. Could I ask how fast is your Charter and what they're charging you?

My whole bill is around $72.  I think about 18 of that is for cable and the 2 boxes so I'd say the internet portion is around $55
I don't have a bill in front of me so I can't give you exact numbers but those are really close.
I have the 75Mb down/5Mb up plan. Here is a screen shot of a speed test I just took.

Every 12 months I have to go to Charter in Austin to get a discount package.. I just went from $99.17 to $105.00 for Broadband Internet and Expanded Basic TV on 2 TV's (TV Select + Internet)

My rate of $99.17 would have jumped to $130.00 if I didn't make a trip to Charter in Austin for the discount and another 12 months..

Got to do it every frikin year..

When the country switched to digital tv my Mothers antenna didn’t work so I got her Charter basic for 19.95 a couple months later they raised the bill to over $30.00
I’m not happy with my choices but what are you going to do!

Remember when we had 3 channels and if we were lucky we would get a PBS station..

Digital Antenna's are really nice and in Albert Lea you can get 5 or more channels.

FlatWave Mini Razor-Thin HDTV Digital Indoor Antenna $20.99
