Origin of Left & Right...

Have you ever wondered why it is that Conservatives are called the
"right" and Liberals are called the "left."

"The heart of the wise inclines to the right, but the heart of the fool
to the left." Ecclesiastes 10:2 (NIV)

Thus sayeth the Lord. Amen.
Can't get any simpler than that.

And now for a Spelling Lesson-------

The last four letters in American...I Can
The last four letters in Republican....I Can
The last four letters in Democrats.....Rats

End of lesson. Test to follow in November, 2012.

Remember, November is to be set aside as rodent removal month.

Does it hurt to be so stupid?

QUOTE

The terms "left" and "right" appeared during the French Revolution of 1789 when members of the National Assembly divided into supporters of the king to the president's right and supporters of the revolution to his left. One deputy, the Baron de Gauville explained, "We began to recognize each other: those who were loyal to religion and the king took up positions to the right of the chair so as to avoid the shouts, oaths, and indecencies that enjoyed free rein in the opposing camp." However the Right opposed the seating arrangement because they believed that deputies should support private or general interests but should not form factions or political parties. The contemporary press occasionally used the terms "left" and "right" to refer to the opposing sides.[10]

When the National Assembly was replaced in 1791 by a Legislative Assembly composed of entirely new members the divisions continued. "Innovators" sat on the left, "moderates" gathered in the center, while the "conscientious defenders of the constitution" found themselves sitting on the right, where the defenders of the Ancien Régime had previously gathered.

If civilization is to survive in any form worthy of the name, liberalism – and, most importantly, its root causes – must die

Are you posting email forwards as fact again?

I say this as someone who is mainly liberatrian, but probably more conservative than liberal if I had to choose one of the two. Stop embarrasing us by cutting and pasting. Try looking into some of what pops up in your inbox instead of just regurgitating it.

You've done this too many times to be simply trolling. You probably actually mean well, but just stop, okay?

I will post an email!!

The democrat symbol changed from a donkey to a condom!!!
because;
it accurately reflects parties political stance.
A condom allows for
inflation, halts production, destroys the next generation, protects a bunch of dicks, and gives you a sense of secrurity while youre actually being screwed!!

Doesnt get more accurate than that!! :peaceout:

Go back.  I first saw that joke in the mid or late '80s.

Too bad some locals can't see further back than their hyper-extended behinds.

I see election years as the bitch and moan complainers surfacing out of the woodwork because no matter what, we as a COUNTRY will NEVER be unified because of the on-going drama/debate about what defines a liberal vs a conservative, a democrat vs a republican, and so on.  No one who is elected actually seems to matter as much as the U.S. Citizen's who have the desire to create and argue about "left and right" politics.
