Texas is getting hit hard too...Houston and Ft Worth specifically. What is the benefit of them closing??? Cause more traffic on the other POs around?? I mean...Calumet!! If they are gonna close, how long is Albert Lea and Owatonna gonna be able to stick around???

Maybe  if they stopped Sat. delivery there would be some money saved. I guess that is to hard to figure out. :dunce:

Maybe if they would learn efficiency they could cut costs nationwide.

I don't understand the idea that the Post Office is supposed to be a business.  People say it's privatized, but that's pretty funny to consider it a private business since it's a government building, their security is made up of federal agents, and mail carriers are government employees.

What happens is we're trying to balance the budget by closing post offices and planned parenthood clinics while we drastically increase defense and war funding.  It'll pan out eventually, I'm sure of it.

USPS is a government service, and it's the ONLY agency explicitly mentioned by name in the Constitution.  If I put a first class letter in the mail they can only charge me one rate regardless of whether it goes to my neighbor or to Hawaii or Alaska.  If it was a private business they could charge more based on mail going to places that cost more to deliver, like Alaska or Hawaii.  Or stopping delivery or pickup to your house or business unless it was profitable to do so.

No one wants to give USPS that kind of freedom to charge what they want or stop delivery or pickup to a vast amount of houses, business, and states.  So we'll keep playing the same game and complain about their budget.  USPS brings in far more money to local economies or tax revenue to make budget deficits look silly.  But if I'm wrong on this, why not start asking NASA or the FBI why they're budget doesn't break even either.   :D

Think about it...
People are not using the post offices since the evolution of the internet.
You can do most everything online.
Checks can be direct deposited so no need to run to the mail box!
How can any entity afford to keep these facilities open with lack of business?
Most have moved beyond the local post office!

If no none is using the post office how come I always have to wait in line when I go there?

You must be talking about AL or any one of the other bigger cities where business utilizes those services?
Generally in small communities there is not enough traffic to warrant being open all day!

I send all of my billing by mail. Some of us are not big enough to go to internet  billing. I will not be swayed. Still I have seen that a whole of bullsh!t goes on in the agency. The big problem is... when you do not spend your OWN money, it really doesn't matter. The chit has hit the fan and all of the wasters had better wake up. GRAVY TRAIN HAS DERAILED.
